Akira Toriyama, a Japanese manga artist and the creator of the Dragon Ball series, has died at the age of 68. Toriyama had also worked on the popular Dragon Quest series, as well as Chrono Trigger, and many other titles in the gaming industry. According to the official statement from Bird Studio and Capsule Corporation Tokyo, Toriyama had “several works in the middle of creation,” at the time. The statement also clarified that the funeral service will be held with his family and very few relatives. Furthermore, Bird Studio and Capsule Corporation Tokyo will not be accepting any gifts or offerings, and they also asked the platforms to refrain from conducting interviews with his family.

Akira Toriyama’s Iconic Contributions To The Gaming Industry
Born on April 5, 1955, in Japan, Akira Toriyama gained most of his fame from the manga and animated series, Dragon Ball. However, Toriyama also worked as a character designer for the Dragon Quest franchise, Chrono Trigger, and Blue Dragon, which all turned out to be popular video games globally.
Among some of his recent works, Toriyama created the character design of Bonyū for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. The manga artist had also created several original character designs for Jump Force, which came out in 2019. Akira Toriyama’s influence on the entertainment world is unparalleled, and he will be remembered for centuries to come.
