EA Sports Working On A Brand New IP According To Job Listings

EA Sports is one of the most famous game developers on this planet. Their sports titles are among the most profitable games in the industry. The studio publishes titles of almost every major sport, from football to baseball. They sell in heaps worldwide, and the FIFA franchise is one of the most gaming series in the world. So, new games from EA Sports are always exciting. And according to a new job listing, we might be getting a brand new IP.

A new job listing from EA Sports for the Orlando studio mentions a new IP. The development team is hiring a new Lead Character Artist to work on a new IP. The listing says “EA in Orlando, Florida is looking for a Senior Character Artist to join our successful development team working on a new IP.”

Furthermore, the job listing says, “Create high quality character models and materials (textures), including in-game and cinematic assets.” So, whatever this game is, it will have high-quality character models by the look of it. Most of the work includes the visual and technical specifications of the new IP.

The listing mentions how the lead character artist will work on “Milestone Planning.” This is a big part of EA Sports games or any sports game for that matter. Hence, this provides more solid evidence that this is a new sports IP.

Moreover, the job’s specifics are in line with recent improvements in the EA Sports games. For instance, the listing requires good knowledge of cloth wrinkling, silhouettes, and proportion. The qualifications go on to say “an expert understanding of human anatomy, clothing construction (wrinkle behavior), proportion, silhouette, and topology.” Newer games from EA Sports include a lot of these aspects. For example, FIFA 22 has clothing which acts according to the weather. So, it’s not wrong to assumer the new sports IP will include these further improvements.

The qualifications also include “Sports knowledge and enthusiasm is a plus.” So, this is without a doubt a new sports IP. But, what is this new IP? EA Sports already make games about many sports. Most of the widely popular sports games are already made by them. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any more sports to make games about.

An example of such a sport is cricket. Now, we all know EA has made games about cricket, but that was a long time ago. A new IP about cricket isn’t out of the realms of reality. Other sports might be hockey and tennis. EA haven’t made a tennis game in a decade and field hockey is very different from the NHL. It could be one of these, but we have no idea.
