New Microsoft Update Fixes Windows 11’s Gaming Performance Issues

The update will provide a smoother experience for the affected gamers.

Windows 11 has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but the last build affected the gaming industry particularly. The “22H2” build led to frame rate drops, unstable gameplay, and heavy lag during game sessions. Microsoft eventually put a “compatibility hold,” not letting gamers update to the specific build after many complaints.

Many users were affected by it, and Microsoft seemingly has finally resolved the issue after heaps of user requests flooded in. The giant conglomerate has finally issued a new preview build that specifically addresses the issue that haunted the gaming community for a long time.

Major Takeaway

  • Microsoft has finally handled the prominent issue with Windows 11 that has plagued the gaming community since the last 22H2 build update.
  • The problem mainly affected systems with NVIDIA GPUS, causing insane stuttering for users during gaming sessions.
  • The issue happened because of the GPU performance debugging features, but Microsoft has dealt with it.
  • The new preview build fixes the issue and will let gamers experience a smoother time relating to gaming performance, optimization, and overall experience.

Microsoft earlier cited how “some games and apps might experience lower than expected performance or stuttering on Windows 11, version 22H2.” The issue was caused because “affected games and apps are inadvertently enabling GPU performance debugging features not meant to be used by consumers.

The new Windows 11 preview named “KB5020044 (OS Build 22621.900) Preview” resolves the aforesaid issues, explicitly addressing the fault that “affects the performance of some games and applications.”

The problem was reportedly related to “GPU performance debugging features,” as elaborated above. The wrongly enabled feature put a lot of stress on the hardware, altering the game performance and optimization. Microsoft has taken care of the problem and should tackle all impediments affecting games.

The 22H2 update also mainly affected Nvidia’s GPUs, which was also caused by a hindrance on its end. The problem also led to lag, unstable frame rates, and an overall jarring experience for gamers. However, a driver update was released by Nvidia that seemingly dealt with the lingering incompatibility.

The performance, optimization, and lag issues should finally be resolved from Nvidia’s and Windows 11 end after weeks of irritations experienced by gamers.

The contentious problem also sparked a lengthy debate discussing whether updating to the new builds early should be preferred and whether gamers should switch to Windows 11 at all right now.

The emergence of Windows 11 was a pretty divisive one, causing a copious amount of confusion among the well-established Windows 10 users. It also rightfully affected the gaming community, with most worried about how the new operating system would handle high-end gaming.

The current builds have been a perilous journey for gamers so far. However, the 22H2 Windows 11 version rattled the PC gamers a bit too much by causing huge stuttering issues leading to an unstable experience. An inflow of users abruptly experienced the same problems, eventually discovering the culprit behind it.

Many Windows 11 users settled for the older version, but the new preview build has changed things for the better. Microsoft has finally seemingly dealt with the recurring issue, also briefly mentioning the root cause behind the suddenly hindered gaming optimization.

All in all, gamers who are using Windows 11 can chime in on the new build and start using it for an improved and immersive gaming experience. The new build will no longer cause massive lag spikes and significant drops in CPU usage after slating to it.

What are your thoughts about Microsoft finally tinkering with the issue that wholly decreased the gaming performance in the last build? Do you think Windows 11 is a better choice than Windows 10 at where things currently stand? Do let us know your opinions in the comments below.
