Story Highlights
- God of War Ragnarok is part of a premier PlayStation action-adventure franchise, though now on Steam as well.
- The game’s listing on the official PlayStation Store now mentions a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” tag.
- The PS5 Pro comes out later in the year, featuring AI upscaling, better ray tracing, 2 TB storage, and more.
God of War Ragnarok is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on my PlayStation 5 console, so to think that I and many others get to relive this action-adventure masterclass in an elevated fashion sure is a good way to start the day off. If you head over to the official Ragnarok PlayStation listing, you’ll now spot that fancy new “PS5 Pro Enhanced” tag.
This should be exciting.
If you haven’t played Ragnarok yet, and you’re about to buy the PS5 Pro, you’re in for a mighty good time, that’s for sure. The now almost two-year-old title remains blissfully wonderful for all that it brings to the table, including impeccable visuals, stunning combat, a gripping storyline with some qualms here and there, and an overall fantastic experience.
What The PS5 Pro Enhanced Tag For God Of War Ragnarok Means
Taking into account what we know about the PS5 Pro, expect a visual upgrade and even faster loading times when you play God of War Ragnarok on Sony’s new console. Some of the key elements to look out for on this front are the AI-driven upscaling branded as PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) and advanced ray tracing, both of which should amount to a superior gameplay experience.
- Do bear in mind that PSSR will only be available for select games on the PS5 Pro, and not all titles.
Put the upgraded GPU on top here and Ragnarok should offer even better frame rates on the console as compared to playing it on the standard PS5’s Performance Mode.
As of right now, there’s no telling what games are going to receive the same treatment on the PS5 Pro, because PlayStation hasn’t been transparent about the requirements of the “Enhanced” moniker. Players — myself included, hope that Helldivers 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 also end up getting boosted, similar to God of War Ragnarok.
Santa Monica launched the latest iteration in the God of War franchise on November 9, 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. eXputer reviewed the action-adventure smash-hit, rating it 4.5/5.0 and calling it “exceptional in almost every single way.”
