[Exclusive] Octopath Traveler 2 Debuts On Xbox In June As A Day-One Game Pass Title

According to sources close to eXputer, Octopath Traveler 2 is headed to Xbox consoles later in June, following the announcement of the port at the Tokyo Game Show in 2023. The Square Enix JRPG is going to be a day-one Game Pass title, and the possibility of the franchise’s first game — Octopath Traveler — becoming a part of Xbox’s premier subscription service is also likely. 

The exact date of the game’s release could not be confirmed, but that should be cleared up in due time as Xbox gears up to make an official announcement for Octopath Traveler 2 arriving on the platform. 

Back at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival that took place in July 2023, Phil Spencer pledged that Xbox will now be working closely with Square Enix to bring some of the company’s high-firing games to the platform in the future. As of yet, Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake as well are two titles that are eventually going to find themselves available on Xbox.

Octopath Traveler 2 Is Something Xbox Fans Are Going To Love

In a joint effort by Square Enix and Tenchu developer Acquire, Octopath Traveler 2 has ushered in an era of what’s being called an “HD-2D-style” game. The traditional, turn-based JRPG offers stellar combat, amazing visuals, and a top-tier soundtrack, among other positives that make it absolutely worth playing. 

eXputer rated the title 5/5 in its review, with author Asad Ahmed remarking, 

Octopath Traveler 2 condenses everything that’s great about the JRPG genre and delivers it in a beautifully designed package.” 

Octopath Traveler 2 was first released on February 24, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
