It seems that ahead of the game’s own upcoming update, a modder has taken the job on himself to unlock God of War Ragnarok’s unfinished photo mode even before the official update.
Major Takeaways:
- God of War Ragnarok’s unreleased Photo Mode has been unlocked by modder “Speclizer.”
- Photo Mode features new options that were not present in God of War 2018.
This mod comes from a user named Speclizer, who has previously modded other Sony titles like Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us. Speclizer posted a screenshot on his Twitter showcasing the upcoming feature.

From the screenshots shown, the photo mode offers even more options than what was found in God of War Ragnarok, with facial options for not only Kratos and Atreus but also Mimir. Characters can also be shown or hidden as per usual with the photo modes, with the additional option to hide all background characters.
The official photo mode update is also coming soon. The developer’s Sony Santa Monica Studio had confirmed a few weeks ahead of God of War Ragnarok’s November 9th launch that a photo mode update will follow soon after the game’s official release.
Photo Mode will be coming to God of War Ragnarök after launch – we’ll share more details closer to when we plan to release it.

Photo Mode has now become a staple of nearly all major AAA releases, letting players unleash their photography skills to create some genuinely impressive screenshots.
This has led developers to actively encourage the creativity of their players to even host actual photo mode competitions for their games and was even added into God of War 2018 as a feature after fan demand.
God of War Ragnarok was released on November 9th to near-universal acclaim. eXputer’s own Huzaifah Durrani gave the game a 4.5/5 stating, “While the game certainly feels all too similar to its predecessor in presentation, everything else is personified and taken to newer heights by Santa Monica Studio.”
Many have also cited the game to be a solid contender for Game of The Year against FromSoftware’s Elden Ring. To avoid choosing sides in this scenario, we’d just like to express our joy at having two highly impressive AAA games to play this year.
God of War Ragnarok is now available for the PlayStation 5.
