The Japanese giant is reportedly preparing various unannounced projects in the near future.

Atlus appeared in a Famitsu article alongside other 68 giant Japanese video game studios that commemorated the beginning of the new year by featuring unique greeting cards. These cards incorporated glad tidings alongside various comments from the developers and tidbits regarding the studios’ future plans.
The studio wistfully looked back on its successful projects during 2022 and thanked the community for its immense support. However, the team at Atlus also clarified that it is brewing several of its unannounced projects this year. We can expect announcements for the unreleased games in the near future.
Happy New Year!
Thank you very much for your support and patronage for the remastered version of P4U2 in 2022, the Nintendo Switch version of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Soul Hackers 2, and the remastered version of Persona 5 Royal. Thanks to your support, the remastered edition of P5R achieved 1 million sales within one month of its release, and P5R as a whole has surpassed 3.3 million units worldwide.
In 2023, we will start with the remastered releases of P3P and P4G, and we are also preparing several new unannounced titles. Please look forward to it!”
Atlus has hinted at one of these unannounced titles pretty firmly in the past. Persona 6 was previously indirectly confirmed by the team in a job listing. The listing blatantly states that it is developing a new IP in the well-beloved spin-off series.
Additionally, Naota Hiroaka also previously commented on the expectations surrounding the anticipated title and the future of the franchise.
“Thanks to the large amount of support we received for Persona 5, we have gotten a sense of accomplishment. But we can’t stop there. When we created Persona 4, there was pressure that it had to exceed Persona 3. Now, we will have to create a 6 which exceeds 5. However, exceeding 5 will be difficult with the current staff. I would like to surpass this tall hurdle with everyone who joins us in this recruitment,” said Naota Hiroaka.
A title that has suffered through incoherent stillness is Vanillaware since seeing its first and last activity in the form of a tease back in 2019.
Furthermore, another quiet IP that could finally see a new announcement is the dungeon crawler RPG Etrian Odyssey. The new entry was teased almost half a decade ago, in July 2018, and has since only witnessed pin-drop silence.
Project Re Fantasy’s development has come along nicely in the last few years. However, it saw no movement the prior year despite the reports of its development being nearly completed by the end of 2021.
As per the words of Atlus, we could finally see a ripple in all these franchises in the next few months.
The seemingly ideal studio rarely does release games as it prefers quality over excessive quantity. As a result, many of its stellar IPs have been scarce in recent years. Regardless, the wait is reportedly coming to a halt; we will soon see the news of many of the IPs’ anticipated unreleased sequels in the coming months.
What are your thoughts regarding the prominent game studio Atlus finally revealing new titles following the inception of 2023? Do you think the giant conglomerate will unveil titles like Persona 6 in the coming months? Do let us know your opinions in the comments below.
