Various sources have recently suggested that a new Sly Cooper game is reportedly in development. The first of which was a screenshot on 4Chan from the game which stated that Sly Cooper 5 was in development, and while the post has since been deleted, another source has since stepped up, this being industry insider Nick Baker.
He has been a reliable source in the industry being mentioned by numerous journalists and has leaked legitimate news ahead of time including Final Fantasy 7 Remake being on PS+ as well as the upcoming Ghosts of Ikishima expansion for Sucker Punch’s “Ghost of Tsushima”. On the Reddit post about the 4chan screenshot, Nick Baker mentioned that he has also heard Sly Cooper 5 is in development and is being worked on by “someone” but not Sucker Punch. The actual comment reads:
Sly Cooper fans have been immensely excited for anything related to this news as the beloved PS2 classic franchise has been on hiatus ever since its release on the VITA. The cartoony stealth heist series was one of the best platformers of the PS2 era and were made by Sucker Punch. The same studio that made the recent universally acclaimed PS4 exclusive and Samurai power fantasy “Ghost of Tsushima”.
Tsushima is also getting a Director’s Cut release adding various improvements both small and vast, the most notable of those being the lip-syncing for the Japanese voice acting, improved visuals for the PS5, and a solid 60 FPS framerate. The Director’s Cut launches alongside an expansion for the game titled Ghosts of Ikishima adding a new region that is said to be about the same size as the entire first act of the game, which is actually the longest portion of the base game.
