Call Of Duty: Warzone 2’s New Pay-To-Win Bundle Has Left Fans Outraged

To the utter dismay of fans, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has introduced “pay-to-win” bundles with its season 3 update. Only present in the game’s DMZ mode, these premium bundles will give the user an edge over other players through gameplay boosts. Buyers will obtain advantages like self-revive kits, UAVs, and other perks as soon as they load in by purchasing these skins and weapon bundles. 

In totality, Call of Duty: Warzone 2‘s season 3 update includes five new skins and weapon bundles with these perks. And, as you might expect, players are not happy with the advantage users will get by just buying these packs. For example, by purchasing the new Roze skin, you can start the match equipped with a UAV. 

Like other battle royale titles like Fortnite, Warzone has had no pay-to-win mechanics since its inception. But, these new bundles go against that policy and give players superiority over others if they spend money. The brand-new Classic Ghost bundle gives the buyer the benefit of a 2-plate armor vest at the start of the game. 

Similarly, the EOD Specialist Operator skin will allow users to get the Medium Backpack right off the bat. You only need to purchase it for 1,200 CoD Points to obtain this gameplay advantage. Hence, you can basically pay to win games by getting perks you normally have to unlock in-game at the start. Furthermore, other upgrades are also available to buy in the DMZ mode after this season 3 update.

The community is obviously not too thrilled about these new premium bundles in the battle royale title. Discussions have been rampant on the Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit with a user simply saying, “Pay 2 Win.” One other player expressed his concern at the UAV mechanics and said, “I don’t care about the armor, but UAV is too much.” 

Other players expressed sadness at microtransactions coming back to Call of Duty after Infinite Warfare. A comment on the subreddit hinted how this is the start of the end of the FPS franchise. The user said “It was a good 20 years boys. We all knew the P2W would rear its ugly head eventually.” Some replies took a realistic approach and mentioned how this hated mechanic will still work as players will buy it.
