Tears Of The Kingdom’s Goddess Statues Have Been Scattered Across Brazil

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is finally here after years of anticipation and it’s only just to say that the game did not disappoint. Although what’s become of it is nothing short of an instant hit on release, Nintendo appears to be kicking it up a notch in the marketing department regardless, dropping Goddess Statues similar to the ones in-game all across Brazil.

According to the Reddit post, the location of the statue is somewhere in Sao Paulo, one of the most popular cities in the world. The Goddess Statue has been apparently placed quite subtly, leaving passersby and pedestrians wondering about the origination of the entity. Of course, for the initiated, it wouldn’t take more than a second to recognize what the figure entails. 

Another person took to the famous social media platform as well, reporting that a Goddess Statue was spotted in a rural Brazillian city in the Max Feffer park. Apparently, a news publication covered the appearance of the sculpture sitting idle, letting the unversed contemplate the scenario while fueling the fans of the franchise further to dive right into Tears of the Kingdom.

To give you a little context, the Goddess Statues refer to The Goddess Hylia, who is a prominent character in The Legend of Zelda series. Story-wise, she was responsible for locking away the Demon King Demise, who wanted to claim the world as his own. In the process of doing so, however, Hylia passed away but ended up forming the Goddess Sword—an all-powerful weapon whose full force could only be unlocked by a future version of Hylia. 

This reincarnation would be in the form of Princess Zelda, as the titular character possesses abilities that appear to be divine in nature across different appearances. In Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, though, the in-game world comprises various Goddess Statues that nod toward The Goddess Hylia. Upon interacting with said statue, Link can trade in four Lights of Blessing for a health or stamina boost. 

So far, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been monumental for Nintendo, claiming the title of being OpenCritic’s highest-rated title of all time while launching to exceptional fanfare. The sequel to Breath of the Wild has made landfall after 6 years, having built surreal hype around it. Fans are saying that after taking Tears of the Kingdom for a spin, the predecessor feels like a beta version of the new release—that’s saying a lot. 

In other news, though, if you’ve been expecting to step into the shoes of Zelda as a playable character for a while now, do look forward to a hopeful future. The producer of the game has clarified that it would take a certain gameplay angle for Zelda to be made the protagonist of a future title. However, the studio isn’t quite there yet with the ins and outs of that approach, so don’t expect the sequel to play out that way, or even the game after it.

On the flip side, Tears of the Kingdom’s sprawling success has spawned a blatant rip-off on mobile, and seering fans have mockingly dubbed it, “Zolda: Wheeze of the Wild.” The latter doesn’t do a good job at hiding its similarities with Nintendo’s front-running exclusive, but yet again, its developer probably didn’t mean to do that as well.
