Final Fantasy 16 Release Platforms
On launch, Final Fantasy 16 will be released on the PlayStation 5. In a recent PS5 trailer, it was revealed that Final Fantasy 16 would be a timed exclusive, and it will be only available on PS5 for six months. Xbox and PC fans must be disappointed as they won’t be able to play it as soon as it is launched. However, the game will eventually be released on other platforms.
With that said, it won’t be available for other platforms before 31st December, which is a long wait for anyone who has been anticipating the title. In an Ascii interview, it was officially confirmed by the producer of Final Fantasy 16, Naoki Yoshida, that the PC version would definitely come out. However, they will only start the production of the PC version after the release of PS5.
We can’t be sure if the PC version will come out after six months as they have yet to start developing, so it is hard to believe the port will be without any issues if it were to be developed in just six months. So, the safe bet is to be expecting the PC port to come out in early or mid-2024.
Why Is Final Fantasy 16 A PS5 Exclusive?
You might be wondering why Final Fantasy isn’t being released on more platforms. The reason for that is Square Enix liked Sony’s offer the most and accepted it. According to Yoshida, developing one system is easier, and PlayStation has helped the team a lot. Yoshida said in an interview with Game Informer:
“That said, from a developer and programmer perspective, limiting development to one system makes it not only easier on us but allows us the ability to optimize it, and that allows us the ability to maximize performance for that one system because we’re only concentrating on that one system.”
That’s almost everything you would want to know about Final Fantasy 16 release platforms. It is being released as a timed exclusive on PS5 but will eventually come to other platforms in a matter of time.
