Final Fantasy 16’s Release Date Will Be Revealed Before 2023

The development is pretty much complete with the team focused on fixing remaining bugs.

Final Fantasy 16 is the next upcoming mainline entry in the well-renowned Final Fantasy franchise. Like the last title, Final Fantasy XVI will incorporate real-time combat to keep up with its new successful direction. FFXVI will take us on a whole new adventure with new insightful characters as we explore the vast lands of Valisthea.

The producer recently teased more information and leads regarding the game in the recent Tokyo Game Show 2020. Now, the game producer for FFXVI appeared in an interview with Famitsu and further cleared some queries, discussing the smooth development and hinting at the highly-anticipated release date reveal.

Major Takeaway:

  • The game producer for Final Fantasy 16 appeared in an interview with Famitsu to discuss the development process for the game.
  • Final Fantasy 16’s development is 95% complete, calling it almost finished.
  • The team is busy tweaking and fixing the remaining minor bugs.
  • Moreover, we can expect a release date announcement before the year ends.

Final Fantasy 16’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, mentioned several notable things in the interview concerning the development. The game development is mentioned to be apparently “about 95%” complete, it is almost wrapped up and in the final phases.

Moreover, A solid release date is not yet decided but rest assured, it is still planned within the summer 2023 window as initially revealed. In other words, those awaiting Final Fantasy 16 don’t have to worry about a delay happening at this point.

When Yoshida was questioned about a concrete release date past summer 2023 in the interview, “We plan to release the information again later this year, so I think we can say it at that time. I don’t think it’s going to be over the summer, so I think it’s okay (laughs).

The team is currently busy playing through the game extensively to hunt down the minute amount of performance or visual bugs still lingering in the current build.

The game director for Final Fantasy 16 elaborates, “The current situation is that we play through the game day by day, tweak the rough parts, and brush up the parts that have flaws in performance or drawing. The rest is bug fixing.

Furthermore, Yoshida adds, “Anyway, the scale of the game is large, so debugging takes a lot of time. Almost all programmers are fiddling with code to fix bugs.” However, the game is pretty much being finalized and we will hear about the exact release date before 2023 begins.

Final Fantasy 16 is adopting a much darker tone in a grim yet equally enticing setting, targeting the mature audience this time. It will explore the political chaos of a world drenched in war, with people seeking the glittering veins of “Mothercrystals” for blessings and benefits to living a comfortable and prosperous life.

The game is targeting a 2023 summer release, with fans dying to hear more about the alluring installment. Final Fantasy 16’s development was “pretty much complete” back in May, and since then, the interviews, hints by the developers, and trailers have further amped up the community.
