New Tekken 8 Character Roster Leak Reveals 38 Playable Characters

Tekken 8 has suffered a massive leak, and the alleged roster of characters surfacing online via closed network test datamine. The leak happened because of the Cheat Engine tool that uses scripts made by players to alter games in a plethora of ways. Around 38 playable characters have appeared from the roster in the new scoop, including many unannounced figures that were highly anticipated by the fans.

The leak revealing the names of Tekken 8 characters is said to have originated in the Modding Haven Discord server and has spread through the vast alleys of the web. Running Cheat Engine and data mining the specific folders has allowed users partaking in the network test to see most of the roster for Tekken 8, if not all. Idle Sloth has posted the entirety of the leaked roster on Twitter, affirming some fan-favorite characters in the process.

Many prominent characters of the Tekken franchise, like the front faces Heihachi Mishima (who has little chance of making a return though), Kazuya Mishima, Nina Williams, Marshall Law, and Yoshimitsu, are included in the leaked roster. A few characters like Yoshimitsu have yet to be confirmed by the devs in the future, but the leak has already mentioned them. 

All in all, we suggest taking the rumors with an extra pinch of salt. The huge number of characters in the roster could still be far from completion, and the Tekken 8 devs may change things around before the final release. However, many figures in the Tekken community have already started corroborating the authenticity of the leak on Twitter. The lines of code that have leaked via data mining the network test are present in the game.

Tekken 8 closed network playtest has proven to be highly popular among new and veteran fans alike. It skyrocketed to 8000 concurrent players on Steam alone two hours ago, as tracked by SteamDB. Some individuals have also benefited from the desperation of fans by selling closed network codes on eBay. 

The Tekken community is deeply keen to play the game’s final release, considering how Harada casually confirmed the existence of features like crossplay and rollback Netcode in the past. The game’s enthralling visuals have a massive appeal because devs like Akira Nishitani, the Street Fighter 2 designer, are developing the entry.

Tekken 8 is set to release on PC and the current-gen consoles, including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. Unfortunately, the title fully disregards the last gen. Excluding the last-gen consoles might be a blessing in disguise for the game since it can fully utilize the potential of the current-gen console hardware without being held back. A release date is yet to be confirmed by Bandai Namco, but a 2024 arrival is imminent.
