Story Highlights
- Starfield features Pluto as a planet in the solar system instead of a dwarf planet like in real life. The real-life change was made many years ago, removing Pluto from the list of planets in our solar system.
- The game will let us explore Pluto and all other planets from our solar system. Bethesda has not confirmed that Pluto will be among the 10% of planets with life.
- The pre-load for Xbox Series X and Series S is now available. The PC pre-load will be live on August 30.
- It will release globally on September 6, but those who pre-order the digital edition can play from September 1. It is aiming for a launch on PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S only.
Starfield is nearing its release after 25 years of anticipation of Bethesda’s new IP. Yet fans are discovering new things about the project almost daily just from the tiny amount of footage unveiled in showcases and trailers. The notable Halo insider Rebs Gaming has seemingly found that Pluto is a planet in the game’s solar system. In other words, Bethesda has added the little cold desolate dwarf planet as just another explorable globe.

The gloomy yet melancholic planet is at the farthest end of our solar system, getting the least amount of sun rays and love from the Astronauts due to its distance. Regardless, it looks quite stunning and dreamy in the game. A few images about Starfield’s Pluto planet have been circling the gaming forums since it was discovered that it’s a planet. Players are quite ecstatic to learn that Bethesda has given it much care despite its current real-life status.

It is currently unclear whether Pluto will be among those lucky 10% of planets with some semblance of lifeform. It is quite likely that it will be barren since it’s so far away from the heat of the Sun; Starfield is aiming to be realistic, after all.

The Xbox Showcase 2023 initially unveiled some stellar Starfield gameplay moments, but the picturesque landscapes of Pluto and Jupiter from its moon IO stood out quite a bit from everything else. Whether the explorable planets are from our solar system or a different one, there is no doubt that many of the Starfield landscapes will be riddled with indelible scenery.

Starfield is already available to be pre-loaded on the Xbox Series S and Series X since yesterday, August 17. Those purchasing the entry on Steam can start pre-loading from August 30. It recently went Gold and finally finished baking in the oven after decades of development and multiple delays.
The entry also features the cross-save support feature, and the Xbox Play Anywhere tag was spotted on the Xbox store. It means gamers can play on multiple platforms in a single save without issues. Moreover, buying the digital edition game on a single platform will give you a copy on the other platform for free.
The Microsoft exclusive is aiming for a launch on PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S only. It will run at a locked 30 FPS on consoles after release but will retain the 60 FPS on PC. We can expect to get our hands on the title on September 6, 2023, with the global release, as confirmed in the launch date reveal trailer. However, you can delve into Starfield even earlier on September 1 by pre-ordering the digital premium edition for early access.
