Rockstar Games Forgot To Remove Mobile Controls From GTA Trilogy

Rockstar Games forgot to remove the mobile controls widget from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Definitive Edition.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition came out on 11th November and has had a very troubled release on PC and consoles. Soon after the game’s release, players started complaining about the bugs and issues with it. From the depressing rain VFX and obnoxious character animations to the performance and stability issues, it’s obvious that Rockstar Games put in little to no effort in the remasters.

Now, this has become even more apparent, as recent screenshots from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — The Definitive Edition show that the developers forgot to remove mobile controls from the game’s code on consoles. As found by Vadim M. on Twitter, an account that investigates technical issues within Grand Theft Auto instalments, Rockstar Games left in the mobile controls widget for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — The Definitive Edition on consoles.

While this doesn’t necessarily mean that the company released “highly modified mobile ports” for consoles, as the tweet suggests, this does show the negligence from Rockstar Games when it came to these remasters. Of course, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition is scheduled to release on Android and iOS devices sometime in 2022. However, the least that the developers could’ve done was optimise the game for each platform that it’s on.

Earlier this week, Rockstar Games released a statement in which the company apologised for the current state of the game and promised future updates to resolve the issues that players are concerned about. “We have ongoing plans to address the technical issues and to improve each game going forward,” it states. Furthermore, the company also mentioned that it’d be re-releasing the classic PC versions of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy on Rockstar Games Launcher.
