ATLUS, a Japanese studio known for their critically acclaimed JRPG series like Shin Megami Tensei and Persona are rumored to be porting another one of their games to PC. Recently, the Steam store page for ATLUS was updated to list 14 entries. Previously, the number was down at 13. The total number of entries listed at ATLUS’s store page are 11 which includes Persona 4 Golden, Catherine Classic, Persona 5 Strikers and Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne along with its DLCs.
This could certainly lead to assumption over what the new game might be. SEGA has been making attempts to port their previous titles into the PC market, especially after seeing the overwhelming success of titles like Yakuza 0, Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Persona 4 Golden on Steam.
Of the games that could potentially be getting a PC port out of ATLUS’s catalog includes 13 Sentinels, Persona 5 and Shin Megami Tensei V. It won’t be a shock seeing SMT V hit steam as the game has already been previously rumored to be coming to PC through various sources.
There have also been many talks of a PC port of Persona 5 Royal, with multiple surveys conducted by SEGA themselves over whether or not PC players are interested in seeing more Persona games on the platform. This would also make a lot of sense considering the release of Persona 4 Golden on Steam last year.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is also a solid contender as a Nintendo Switch port of the game was announced only last week which will be releasing in April next year.
Its safe to say however that PC gamers will be in for a treat no matter what game gets on the platform eventually. ATLUS has amassed a vast library of universally acclaimed genre-defining JRPGS over the years, the Shin Megami Tensei franchise is widely regarded to be one of the most brutal yet beloved JRPGS in the industry. SMT is also known to have paved the way for the mainstream giant that is Pokemon, borrowing SMT’s weakness oriented and demon collecting system and putting it in a more simplified game intended for younger audiences.
Most people however, recognize ATLUS for their work on the Persona franchise. A spin-off series to Shin Megami Tensei that has no grown to actually surpass the franchise it belonged to in terms of sheer popularity. Persona is widely regarded as a much more light-hearted, casual friendly version of the Persona franchise meanwhile SMT games are usually very dark with an unsettling moody atmosphere and tons of satanic imagery.
Its a safe bet that whatever game gets in eventually(if any at all) its going to be a good day nonetheless.
