Story Highlights
- Destiny 2 players recently found a game-breaking bug that allows you to put exotic weapon perks on legendary weapons, resulting in weapons of utter destruction.
- Some examples of this include crafting an Ammit AR2 with shotgun frames that can take down even a behemoth or formulating grenade launchers with frames of another weapon to obliterate all opponents in PvP.
- Although it’s a fun, maybe a bit chaotic bug, it does ruin the game for many, especially in PvP fights. As such, Bungie began investigating it as soon as it could.
- The studio has confirmed that this issue will be resolved in two fixes coming soon, with the first disabling all crafted weapons and the second addressing the bug.
Destiny 2 recently witnessed one of the most game-breaking bugs in its history when players started putting exotic weapon perks on legendary weapons—a combination resulting in gear that would melt bosses in less than a second. It has caused quite a bit of chaos in PvP content and even risked the integrity of achievements. Bungie has since addressed the issue and will end this bug with two fixes, one after another.
UPDATE: We're working on two fixes for this issue. There are no plans for a rollback.
For the first fix, deploying within the next 24 hours, we’re building a server-side update that will disable all crafted weapons from being equipped. Players will still be able to craft weapons… https://t.co/cFxZaCQ5j4

The bug was possible by selecting a craftable exotic weapon, like the Dead Messenger or Osteo Striga, and then switching the tab using up or down keys to select a legendary weapon you want to see the exotic perks on. After multiple tries, you should be able to get perks from exotic weapons onto the legendary ones. The following video shows the Hollow Denial with Trinary Vision perk from Dead Messenger, which looks insane.

Some other examples would be the Regnant with Aggressive Frame, which turns you into a bombardier. Players can also make Apex Predator with Rapid-Fire, which shoots the rockets so fast that they collide instantly and kill you in the process. But perhaps the most annoying PvP weapon would be this Ammit AR2, which uses shotgun frames to put so many holes in enemies that it might give them Trypophobia.
These combinations are wild, to say the least, and have ruined the PvP aspect of the game for many. Since this is an exploit/glitch in-game, players are not subject to getting banned. Bungie addressed this issue in a recent tweet, acknowledging the chaos that has ensued thanks to the bug.
We’re aware of an issue that allows specific weapon perks to be crafted into other legendary weapons and are investigating a fix, which will result in these weapons being reset in the future. We currently don’t have any plans to disable Trials of Osiris due to this issue,” says Bungie Help.
We’re exploring all potential solutions and keeping an eye out in case things get TOO wild and we need to take drastic measures to ensure the health of the game.
In the meantime, let’s all have some fun! Igneous Hammer will come back to Trials ASAP. https://t.co/4UsA1cCaQS

The past few days have been very chaotic for Bungie, and the fact that these exploiters cannot receive any punishment has also left a bad taste among members of the community. One person even said that this ruins the integrity of in-game achievements, as players can solo every raid boss. They also said, “I refuse to exploit because nothing feels earned.”
Bungie has taken action and will roll fixes in two waves; the first will be deployed pretty soon and will disable all crafted weapons from being equipped until the second fix arrives. Then, the actual problem will be addressed, wherein such weapons will be considered “illegal” and will reset to their default state. Surprisingly, there will be no rollbacks; instead, the first wave will temporarily stop the madness until the fix arrives.
