Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is just around the corner and the fanbase is all hyped up. But, the recent reveal of the game’s insane storage requirement has put the fans down a bit, and rightfully so. The game will exceed 200 GB of your storage, with the Call of Duty HQ app and other modes included. However, addressing the outcry regarding the massive installation, Activision has offered an explanation.
Modern Warfare 3’s early access just went live yesterday and the devs are gearing towards a full release. Just a few minutes before the game became available for early access, Activision took to X (formerly Twitter) to provide an update on the enormous file size that has everyone concerned at the moment. The devs defend the said concern with the sheer amount of content that is made available in the latest game.
#MW3 is almost here. In preparation, we would like to provide an update on file sizes which are larger than last year 👇
This is due to the increased amount of content available Day 1, including open world Zombies, support for item carry forward from #MW2, as well as map files…

Activision also noted that as part of their “ongoing optimization efforts,“ the final installation size will not cross the combined previous Call of Duty experiences. To compensate the players for stressing them with storage cleaning on their systems, the developer has introduced the option of uninstalling any content “you are not actively playing.” This can be done from the “manage files” section of the CoD HQ launcher menu.
Lastly, Activision promises to share “more information regarding the launch in the coming days.” With the Modern Warfare 3 early access in full gear, the release date is drawing near as well. It’s time for those who have pre-ordered the game to start unloading their hard drives, as the game will launch bundled with packs for zombies, Modern Warfare 2 content, and Warzone maps, stressing the heck out of your storage capacity.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will launch on November 10, 2023, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. To make sure, you fully enjoy your experience, we have compiled the best Modern Warfare 3 PC settings for you.
