Hogwarts Legacy was one of the most prominent releases that WB Games has churned out recently. However, the steady streams of sales have continued even after the advent of 2024. After selling over 22 million copies only a few weeks ago, it has now shifted over a remarkable 24 million copies globally. The tidbit was confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav to Variety in an interview.
On the other hand, Mortal Kombat 1 has rolled over 3 million copies. The CEO wants to take advantage of its billion-dollar franchises and focus on creating games while considering what the fans want. He wants to avoid investing in projects just for the sake of releasing them alongside movies.
It is unclear whether a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is in the brewer by Avalanche Studios or WB Games. However, the CEO has previously expressed interest in making “a series of other” projects in the Wizarding World IP that are currently unannounced. We may see a reveal of more Harry Potter titles in the near future. For now, the fans are awaiting the F2P multiplayer spin-off entry dubbed Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.
