Geralt is officially returning. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past will receive its full reveal during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. Gamescom ONL is currently set for August 25 at 11 am PT, 2 pm PT, and 8 pm CEST.
The studio announced the upcoming presentation through its official Gamescom 2026 press center. Although the expansion itself is no longer a secret, its Gamescom appearance should finally show players what CD Projekt Red has been building—and why it is returning to The Witcher 3 more than a decade after launch.
What To Expect From The Gamescom Reveal
CD Projekt Red has not yet shared the expansion’s release date, price, or complete story premise. Those are the big details to watch for during Opening Night Live.
According to the press release:
- CD PROJEKT RED will also showcase The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past on the gamescom show floor
- Showcases will be available in the business area and entertainment area from August 26 to August 28.
Is It Connected To The Witcher 4?
According to IGN, Songs of the Past will set the stage for Witcher 4 and will serve as the game’s prologue while also being a standalone journey for Geralt.
For now, the important part is simple: The Witcher 3 is getting a substantial new expansion, and Gamescom ONL 2026 should finally tell us what Geralt is hunting this time.
