Bandai Namco has finally given fans what they’ve been wanting for so long now, making the entire release a dream come true for long-time franchise stans. The game, following its release on October 11, has sold significantly well on release, rolling over more than 3 million units within a span of one day. That’s remarkable, to say the least, for a single-player-focused fighting game, but expected all the same.
BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Ueda Minami) is pleased to announce that Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO, the latest home video game in the Dragon Ball Z Sparking! series, released on Thursday, October 10, 2024 (STEAM® version Friday, October 11, 2024), has surpassed 3 million copies sold worldwide within 24 hours of its release,” states the press report.
The company cites its marketing efforts to be the primary cause behind this success, not to mention all the hype that Sparking! Zero had garnered prior to its release. I mean, the initial reveal of the fighter title gathered more than 3 million views in a quick span, and rightfully so.
By working with more than 30 overseas bases of our group, we implemented marketing measures that were suited to the characteristics of each region, such as a road tour in North America and exhibitions at game events in Europe, South America, and Asia, and we believe that this result was achieved by having a wider range of fans play the game than ever before.”
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Has Won Over Hearts And Did Not Disappoint
Considering that this was going to be the first new Dragon Ball: Budokai Tenkaichi game in 17 whole years, it was human of us to expect things to not fall onto expectations, but that’s not what happened here. Sparking! Zero may have its flaws in terms of having a lackluster storyline, but the content is there, the visuals are amazing, and the gameplay is nice and tight.
I do wish there were more combo variations, but I think I’ll take what we’ve got already.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero was released on October 11, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
