Baldur’s Gate 3: The Rope Guide And Spell

Learn how to use the Rope item in BG3, along with some alternatives to climb up and down in the vast world of Baldur's Gate 3.

No, you can not use the rope in Baldur’s Gate 3. The best you can do with the rope is sell it to the vendors for a single piece of gold, which is not much. However, you can throw the rope just as you would with any other item. Other than that, the rope served me no purpose in BG3.

Key Takeaways
  • The rope item in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a useless item that does not serve any specific purpose.
  • The most you can do with it is throw it around just like you would with any other useless item, or you can sell it to vendors for a single piece of gold.
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 should have made it to where the rope could have been used to climb up and down or rather used to tie up enemies.
  • However, if the rope can not be used to climb up and down, then you can use spells such as Fly or Feather Fall to fill in that gap.

What About The Rope Trick Spell

Well, the Rope Trick Spell is an entirely different matter. It essentially creates a magical rope that allows specific-sized characters to travel into a different dimension where they can be safe from dangers for a moment. It is a level 2 spell that takes up a level 2 slot and can be used as an action by Wizards.

Alternatives To Climb Up And Down In BG3

Now, if you are not allowed to use the rope to climb up and down, then you can use spells. You can use the level 5 Fly Spell with a Wizard, Sorcerer, or Warlock to fly vertically upwards toward your objective. And if the distance you want to climb is not much, you can use the Jump action. The Jump action’s capabilities come from the character’s physical attributes, which means that the stronger the character, the higher they jump.

Furthermore, if you want to descend from a dangerous distance, you can use the Feather Fall spell, eliminating fall damage. Wizards, Sorcerers, Bards, Fighters, or Rogues can cast this spell.

And with that, my BG3 Rope guide comes to an end. You were enlightened about the uses of rope in Baldur’s Gate 3, of which there are none, and were given alternatives to climbing up and down in BG3.
