The Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella is a hidden boss in Elden Ring found in the Ainsel River.

The boss battle itself can be extremely difficult, so it is best to come prepared. You can read more about him in the Elden Ring Bosses Tier List.

To locate the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella, you will have to go through a series of difficult areas. This journey can be long and extremely challenging, so I will recommend preparing first before you take the plunge.

Starting At Eastern Tableland

Let’s start off our journey with the most easily accessible area, which is the Eastern Tableland.

Once you are there, head east until you come across a large building. This is where the Ainsel River Well is located.

After going inside the building, make your way to the platform located in the center. It will take you to the lower level.

Getting off the platform will take you to the main Ainsel River location. You can activate the Ainsel River Site of Grace, which will help you directly get here next time you want to access the area.

Traversing Through Ainsel River

You will have to carefully make your way across the Ainsel River to locate the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella. As you make your way down from the Ainsel River Site of Grace, you will see a wall that is occupied by two large ant enemies.

You can fight them if you want, but avoiding them would be the better strategy. As you pass them, you will go through a narrow cave that has two openings. Take the right one, as it will get you to the Dragonkin Soldier quicker.

Once you have the right pathway, you will make your way through it, dodging enemies that come your way. After traveling on this path for a bit, you will come across a large doorway.

If you keep traveling on this path, you will come across another Site of Grace that will unlock the Ainsel River Sluice Gate fast travel.

After activating the Site of Grace, make your way to the platform, and it will take you down to the Uhl Palace Ruins.

As soon as you get off the platform, you will be swarmed by enemies. So, your best strategy at this point will be to avoid them and keep moving. If you keep traveling along this path, you will end up in an area with a huge enemy sitting on top of a structure.

Taking the right path will be more dangerous as that creature will start throwing rocks at you. So it is better to take the narrow passageway on the left until you get to another Site of Grace. This one will unlock the Ainsel River Downstream area on the map.

You will keep moving along this path until you get to a cave, as shown in the image below.

At the end of the cave will be an open area where the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella Elden Ring will drop down from the sky.

The ensuing boss fight can be really easy if you have a proper strategy going in.

Dragonkin Soldier Boss Fight

Here are the notes on the Dragonkin Soldiers move set I took while fighting it:

  • The Dragonkin Soldier has a lot of slow long-ranged attacks.
  • These attacks are easy to predict and dodge.
  • After the attack animations, there is a small period where he is standing idle. Here, I will recommend attacking.
  • After half of the Dragonkin Soldier HP is gone, it will gain the ability to cast ranged lightning bolt attacks that can be avoided by jumping or rolling.

The strategy I used to kill the Dragonkin Solider was to dodge his attacks and hit in the rest period in between. If you follow this strategy, you will be able to defeat him in a few minutes without an issue.

Rewards for Defeating Dragonkin Solider

You will receive the Frozen Lightning Spear as a reward as soon as you defeat the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella, as shown in the image below.

The Frozen Lightning Spear

This item is extremely powerful and can be used to conjure a spear from above. This spear moves in a forward direction and deals a large amount of damage in the form of lightning trails. This spell only costs 36 FP which gives you the ability to spam it during a fight. While you’re at it, consider reading the Elden Ring best Spells guide.
