Spider-Man 2: The BEST Skills [Top 15]

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Best skills ensure you are properly aware of which ones to work towards first, one that will aid you both as a skilled player and someone struggling with the game’s combat. There are two different skill trees this time, one each for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, as well as a brand-new Shared Skill Tree with a host of great abilities that will help you in your playthrough.

Following are the Best Skills for both Spider-Men, taken from their respective skill trees as well as the new Shared Skill Tree:

15. Symbiote Blast: Might

Starting off, the Symbiote suit unlocks later into the game’s first half, but I won’t spoil anything about it or how you get your hands on it. Much like the rest of the Black Suit’s abilities, the Symbiote Blast is fantastic for crowd control as Peter launches a spiked blast at everyone around him upon activation.

The Symbiote Blast: Might skill improves the reaction of the spiked blast and improves damage, which is a rather decent skill to have, especially if you’re like me and love using the new Symbiote abilities.

14. Symbiote Strike

The Symbiote Strike is perhaps one of the most unique abilities I got to experience in Spider-Man 2. As shown in the image above, I strongly recommend getting the skill for it as soon as you unlock the Black Suit in your playthrough. The ability essentially lunges at enemies in front of you and launches them into the air, allowing you to easily group them up or reposition them away from you in intense combat encounters.

13. Spider-Rush Tornado

Spider-Rush is one of the newest Spider abilities for Peter, which works similarly to Miles’ Electric Venom powers. I immediately had to pick this up because I’m playing the game on the Spectacular (hard) difficulty, where enemies can easily overcrowd me due to their aggressiveness.

Spider-rush not only lets you charge at an enemy like a cannon, but the Tornado skill will add an extension that will pull any nearby enemy during the attack animation, making it a fantastic skill for crowd-control situations when playing as Peter.

12. Spider Shock

Spider Shock is a skill that many will have by the time they’re through the opening hours of Spider-Man 2, but even if you have it, you will definitely want to work on its extension skills due to how easily it can stun groups of enemies, especially helpful against Kraven’s hunter goons. Its extension skill (Spider Shock Overload) will also improve the shock’s viability, allowing you to chain to more targets when using it against groups of enemies.

11. Loop De Loop

As soon as I got past my initial hours of Spider-Man 2, I instantly started focusing on the middle Shared skill tree, and Loop De Loop is one that caught my eye instantly. The diving technique during web-swinging already grants you a speed burst, but this will further boost that speed as when you hold R2 during diving, it will essentially increase the momentum of your next swing, making traversal even faster through the busy streets of NYC.

10. Perfect Dodge Recharge

If you’re a skilled player like me and loved using Perfect Dodge since Spider-Man 2018, then the Perfect Dodge Recharge is excellent, as it will grant your abilities a partial recharge whenever they’re on cooldown.

It is especially useful when you reach the mid-game stages, as by that point, you’ll soon have access to Peter’s Symbiote suit and a host of other abilities that you can assign to both Spider-Men. However, I wouldn’t say this is as important as the other Spider-Man 2 best skills featured in my guide, so it comes down to personal preference for combat if you want to purchase Perfect Dodge Recharge.

9. Amped

Amped will grant you bonus Focus generation when parrying enemy attacks. I loved the addition of the parrying system being introduced in Spider-Man 2 as it offers a risk-reward play style, especially if you’re playing on the higher difficulties like I am.

Generating bonus focus will allow you to gain Finishers and heal yourself easily during dangerous moments such as boss fights and other combat scenarios. Furthermore, the benefits provided by the Amped skill might also push you to use Parrying as a counter-attack more often instead of perfect dodging.

8. Bio-Siphon

The Bio-Siphon skill is pretty straightforward, as it will allow you to slightly recharge Miles’ abilities upon hitting enemies while they’re Venom stunned. In case you don’t already know, Venom stun is applied to targets by using any of Miles’ venom abilities, such as Venom Dash and Jump. I personally use these abilities a lot when playing as him due to their versatility, so reducing their overall cooldown with Bio-Siphon is quite useful if you ask me.

7. Venom Dash Double Dash

Venom Dash is easily one of my favorite skills among the Spider-Men, making Miles my favorite character to use gameplay-wise as he charges at his target and hurls him across the surface. The Venom Dash Double Dash allows you to follow this attack up with a second Venom Dash on a nearby enemy.

Miles’ powers are already super fun to use, especially in crowd-control scenarios for me, so Venom Dash Double Dash instantly piqued my interest to grab it sooner or later in my current playthrough to increase it’s viability.

6. Leap Off Bounce

The Leap Off Bounce is an underrated skill in my personal experience with Spider-Man 2, as it allowed me to add an extension to my air combos on enemies. The skill allows you to jump on a mid-air enemy to make them ricochet off the ground back into the air. It may seem like a simple skill, but it’s super useful against tankier or annoying enemies whom you can combo for longer, like Kraven’s robot dogs.

5. Air Swap

Air Swap is quite possibly one of the essential skills on this list as it allows you to dodge behind the enemy during an air combo, particularly useful when trying to dodge bullets or other projectiles in the air. Dodging behind your target in the air will ensure safety when chaining your combos in dire encounters.

I find Air Swap quite helpful on the Spectacular Difficulty since snipers and bolt-shooting enemies are relentless in their attacks, so I can safely dodge behind my suspended target instead of trying to dodge during mid-air engagements.

4. Gadget Resupply

Gadget Resupply is great if you love using them (mapped to the R1 on the Dualsense controller) in combat. The skill gives you 1 recharge of any gadget upon executing a successful finisher on an enemy, which I found to be extremely useful towards the mid-game battles in Spider-Man 2, but again, if you’re not too keen on its utility, then feel free to pick up something else better-suited for your play style.

3. Spider-Dash/Jump

I’ve listed two skills here because both offer the same functions for the two Spider-Men in the game, as these skills will allow you to press L1 + X on your controller to charge forward with a burst of speed while web-swinging or using the Web Wings while gliding.

If you ask me, it is easily the best Shared Tree skill for early-to-mid-game to quickly get around the city since Fast-Travel is locked unless you complete the districts from the early going.

2. Aerial Escapades

Aerial Escapades is the extension skill for Spider-Dash and Jump, as this skill allows you to recharge your Dash and Jump abilities for both characters by performing tricks, point launches, going through Wind Tunnels, Corner Tethering, and Diving. This means you’ll be able to use those abilities mentioned above more often without too much cool-down period on them when you’re web-swinging or gliding.

1. Combo Resupply

Lastly, it brings me to Combo Resupply, one that I personally found to be ideal for my play style since I primarily use combos in the game along with the occasional abilities of both Spider-Men. The skill allows you to gain a chance at the end of 4-hit combos to freely use gadgets without consuming them, a simple skill but one that has benefitted me the most in my playthrough of Spider-Man 2.

My Opinion On These Best Skills

As someone with over 10+ hours right now in Spider-Man 2 (PSN ID: Liontamer55460), I found the Spider-Dash/Jump, along with the Air Swap, to be my favorite choices due to their viability to improve your combat and traversal prowess. I’m a huge fan of Insomniac’s web-swinging mechanics in this game, so focusing on improving Traversal using the skills was my main goal from the beginning.
