Remnant 2 Is Getting Crossplay Functionality; Will Take A While

In a Reddit AMA, Remnant 2 game director, David Adams, has confirmed that crossplay is being actively worked on.

Making its mark as one of 2023’s highly anticipated games, Remnant 2 is in the spotlight once again as the devs have confirmed crossplay functionality. Director David Adams held an AMA on the official subreddit where user, Danimalixb, asked if crossplay is in the cards. Adams replied, “Yes, we are looking at it. There are issues with the different platforms & what they require in order to allow crossplay, but it is being actively worked on.”

Remnant 2 is an experience that can be enjoyed solo and with friends. With the way it’s designed, you can have multiple people in a co-op session, and their presence elevates the experience. The confirmation of crossplay from Adams is a positive development for the game that will only strengthen its lifespan by allowing players on all platforms to play with each other.

Crossplay isn’t the only thing that Adams has confirmed via the AMA megathread. When asked about the future plans with the franchise, the director stated that Gunfire Games has a lot of things in mind for the series, but its top priority right now is to work on improving this entry and building on its plans over time. Another user asked whether new Archetypes were in the pipeline, which received a positive response.

While that may come off as obvious to some players, this still serves a purpose as it’s an official confirmation for DLC and new classes. Furthermore, considering the structure of the Archetype system in the new Remnant, having more options will be more fuel for build crafting. But this isn’t where it ends as Adams has also stated that he has a ton of world ideas. Safe to say that there’s more on the way.

Remnant 2 is an RPG in the soulslike genre, putting its own twist on it by way of adding guns. Not only that, the mechanic of losing currency and retrieving it is absent from the game. Additionally, it offers the ability to select your preferred difficulty, bringing a new direction to the genre and elevating the franchise to a new level despite some flaws.
