Final Fantasy 14 has been among the most dominating MMORPGs for a decade, and Xbox fans have long been wanting a taste of it on the current-gen platform. Square Enix devs have provided an update in the latest 6.5 patch on the launch window of the open beta after the initial announcement. The open beta test will begin on the Microsoft consoles sometime in the patch 6.5x series of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker time cycle.
FINAL FANTASY XIV is coming to Xbox in Spring 2024, and to prepare for its debut, we’ll be holding an open beta test during the Patch 6.5x cycle. Enjoy faster loading times on both consoles, and crystal-clear 4K resolution on the Xbox Series X,” reads the official patch notes.
Unfortunately, the Square Enix team has provided no exact release date yet. But we know that the new patch cycle will commence on October 3. The Xbox Series S and Series X Final Fantasy 14 launch could happen anytime in the upcoming months that lie between the 6.5 and 6.55 update. We may learn more in the upcoming weeks.
The awaited Xbox version will come with its benefits, featuring faster loading times in contrast to PC and PlayStation versions. It appears that the 4K resolution is only meant for the Xbox Series X due to its higher specs than the Series S console. It is also worth noting that the Xbox release of the game will feature all the expansions and content —ranging from A Realm Reborn to Endwalker— from the PC version.
