The next part of Final Fantasy XIV‘s story is set to launch in a few hours with Patch 6.4 as it introduced the final raid tier of Endwalker along with more MSQ. The Dark Throne will take players to the desolate world of the 13th once more as they prepare to face off against Golbez on the moon. This is complemented by the storyline of Pandæmonium that’s set to wrap up with the final raid tier, Anabaseios.

While the servers are currently down for maintenance, the complete patch notes for Final Fantasy XIV’s next update were released on the lodestone. Aside from MSQ and the next raid tier, the patch also introduces several quality-of-life features, job adjustments, and miscellaneous changes. New content has also been added to the Island Sanctuary mode which will allow the players to progress their Hideaways.

Players can initiate Final Fantasy XIV’s new MSQ, consisting of nine quests, by visiting Varshahn in Radz-at-Han (X:4.4 Y:9.8). Similarly, to get started with the new tier, players will have to make their way to Labyrinthos once more and speak to Ruissenaud. As previously stated, the savage version of the tier will be unlocked next week. This is to allow players sufficient time to complete the MSQ and prepare effectively.

Quality-of-life and aesthetic changes have also been introduced to more parts of the game. Character portraits have now been implemented for battle dialogue during main scenario-instanced quest battles starting from the patch 2.0 quest “Brotherly Love,” through the final quest of patch 2.55. Portraits for battle dialogue prior to “Brotherly Love” will be added in a future update.

Moreover, icon graphics for certain quests introduced after Shadowbringers have been changed. Older quests will be updated in the future. Other improvements include the changes to the glamour system. Players will now be able to access items present in their dresser and armoire when casting glamour at an inn room. In addition, the layout of the “Request Repair” window has also been adjusted.

Job potencies and other factors have also been adjusted with patch 6.4 of Final Fantasy XIV. All tanks, except for Dark Knight, have gotten potency buffs along with minor changes to the effective radius of certain skills. Dragoon can now perform the Jump action even when under the Bind debuff. This change was previously discussed during a Live Letter. Similar adjustments were made to the rest of the jobs as well.

The Scholar faerie, Selene, has been removed from the game and players will now be able to cast a glamour on Eos instead. In order to do so, they must first accept a quest from guild master Thubyrgeim in Limsa Lominsa – Lower Decks (X:4.7 Y:11.4). After fulfilling the prerequisites, players can use the text command /egiglamour (/petglamour) to change the appearance of the faerie.

Moving on to PVP, Final Fantasy XIV revamped the mode when Endwalker was released and recently introduced a new map as well. The Clockwork Castletown had several flaws despite having an interesting layout. The height of certain assets combined with the teleporting gimmick was a cause of vision obstruction which impacted general gameplay. Square has adjusted the height in an attempt to alleviate the problem.

Furthermore, Final Fantasy XIV’s latest patch also implements the loot changes for the last tier of Pandæmonium (Savage). While the content will be added once the maintenance is complete, it won’t be unlocked until May 30 at 3:00 a.m. (PDT). All related features will remain inaccessible until that time.

With the release of Endwalker in 2021, Final Fantasy XIV concluded the Hydaelyn and Zodiark saga after over a decade. The story is currently transitioning into the next arc which appears to be related to the Void in some manner. As to how this will all unfold is yet to be seen but one thing that’s clear is the potential of telling great stories in the universe of FFXIV.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Mac, PC, and Steam
