Ghost of Yotei: Echoes of Sekigahara Announced Alongside Complete Edition

Sucker Punch Productions is expanding Ghost of Yotei with a new narrative expansion titled Echoes of Sekigahara. It will arrive alongside Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition for PS5 on October 1, giving newcomers a straightforward way to pick up the full experience in one package while it doubles as the game’s one-year anniversary release.

Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition Arrives October 1

The Complete Edition was revealed through the official PlayStation Blog, which confirmed its October 1 release date on PS5, timed to land just after the original game’s launch one year earlier.

For $69.99, the package includes the main Ghost of Yotei game, the four-player online co-op mode Ghost of Yotei Legends, and the new Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted additions, plus everything previously found in the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Charm of Hokkyokusei.

Existing players do not need to repurchase the whole package. A $14.99 Complete Edition Upgrade adds Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted to an existing copy, and also grants the Digital Deluxe content and Charm of Hokkyokusei for anyone who doesn’t already own them.

Anyone who purchases the Complete Edition, upgrades, or pre-orders by September 30 also gets an early unlock of the Sakai Armor, a nod to Jin Sakai’s family armor from Ghost of Tsushima.

Echoes of Sekigahara Is The Big Addition

Echoes of Sekigahara splits its story between the present day and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the Japanese mainland. In the present, players explore a previously unseen valley once home to a gang called the Vipers, led by a figure known as The Snake.

In the flashbacks, players experience Atsu’s role in the historic Battle of Sekigahara and a pivotal moment before she returned home to begin her quest for vengeance, alongside a new character named Nagato. The expansion adds new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets, and dyes.

Sekigahara carries enormous historical significance, tied to the decisive 1600 battle that helped reshape Japan’s political future, giving Sucker Punch plenty of room to explore another major conflict through Atsu’s fictional storyline, following the spinoff ambitions the studio has previously discussed for the franchise.

Most Wanted is a separate addition, a single-player roguelike combat survival mode where players accept bounties to start new runs, earning perks and unlocking additional playable characters, including Atsu with dual katana, Oyuki with a kusarigama, and Nagato with a yari.

What Existing Players Still Need To Know

Even players who skip the Complete Edition Upgrade entirely still benefit from October 1’s free patch, which adds the new Beauty of Yotei screensaver mode for capturing the environments of Ezo, additional New Game+ cosmetics, new photo mode stamps, and quality-of-life options including the ability to keep one armor set’s appearance while using another’s stats, plus a new high-contrast accessibility setting.

For now, the confirmed takeaway is simple: Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition and Echoes of Sekigahara are coming to PS5 on October 1, with Sucker Punch promising more details on both Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted as launch approaches.
