Story Highlights

  • God of War is the 2018 reboot of the iconic God of War franchise by Santa Monica Studios.
  • The game’s PC port has been discounted by 50% on renowned gaming marketplace GOG.
  • It’s also DRM-free on the aforementioned platform, meaning that it doesn’t have any pertinent software.

God of War, the 2018 masterpiece from US-based developer Santa Monica Studios and a personal favorite is now available to purchase for merely $25 on GOG.com. Before I tell you how this is going to be one of the best $25 you’re ever going to spend if you haven’t played the game already, you should know that the title has also gone DRM-free on said platform, which means that it’s exempt of any DRM software.

Now, the God of War from 2018 is a reboot of the series, featuring Kratos in a never-before-seen way with his never-before-seen son, whose actual name is Boy, but gets sometimes called Atreus as well. Talk about top-notch, unique, third-person combat, mixed with dynamic storytelling and breathtaking visuals—Santa Monica has switched up the very face of the IP with this game, and remarkably so.

What Does DRM-Free Mean For God Of War?

As for the DRM part, GOG announcing that this game does not support any DRM software means that no anti-cheat or anti-tamper tool, such as the notorious Denuvo, has control over the title on your PC, which means no unnecessary intrusion, better performance, and easier access. Games with anti-cheat require you to be online when you boot them up, but that’s not going to be the case with God of War here.

God of War is succeeded by God of War Ragnarok, which makes up for a duology of Kratos’ Norse adventures. Do try that out when you’ve beaten the game at hand for the full experience. On a side note, though, it’s worth knowing that a rumor circulates the internet these days, saying that another God of War game outside of Santa Monica Studios is under the works, but there’s no concrete proof of it as of yet.
