God of War Ragnarok Tops Off 2022 As UK Boxed Charts’ Best-Ranking Game

A truly spectacular send-off for the year.

It is finally that time of the year again, the UK final box charts have come in and the results are not far from what was expected.

As anticipated God of War Ragnarok, dominated the charts bagging the number-one position. The game was already a massive hit when it first came out back on November 9th, 2022. However, according to the source, GamesIndustry.biz, God of War Ragnarok was a huge success over the Christmas holidays.

One of the reasons for the game’s massive success is that it is boosted by the PlayStation 5 bundle. This singlehandedly made the game the fourth biggest launch in terms of physical retailers for the previous year.

MAJOR TAKEAWAYS

  • God of War Ragnarok first launched back on November 9th, 2022.
  • It quickly dominated the market getting outstanding reviews from players.
  • Although the game’s sales fell week on week it ended up securing the number-one position in Uk’s retail chart.

Previously it was noticed that the game’s sales had been slowly declining. According to Christopher Dring, God of War Ragnarok’s sales had been declining at a steady rate of 29% week after week.

Interestingly, the game had previously been in the third position but after the Christmas season, the game has jumped two places landing on the top of the list. As per usual, the demand for the game has slowly trickled down during the start of 2023. But for Santa Monica Studio it is truly the best Christmas present.

Finally, after weeks of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beating God of War Ragnarök, Kratos finally gets the upper hand. The fans have been over the moon about the whole ordeal, One fan says, “Well deserved. I’m about 37 hours in and still a bit to go before I’m finished. Insane the quality considering the quantity.”

God of War Ragnarok is developed by Santa Monica Studio and released by Sony itself. It is the first cross-gen release in the God of War series, arriving on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Interestingly, the game up till now has been beaten by only 40% of the total players.
