God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla is now out for PlayStation fans following its initial reveal at The Game Awards 2023. The expansion for the base game has a file size of about 8.2 GB on the PlayStation 5. For PS4 players, that figure is relatively less, clocking in at around 7.6 GB. No big difference there obviously. The information comes from a well-renowned tracker account, PlayStation Game Size on X.

Valhalla is a DLC like no other for God of War Ragnarok. Well, it’s currently the only DLC for the game, but it’s unique in featuring a roguelite gameplay narrative that also contains some semblance of story elements; the entirety of this is a first for the God of War franchise. Santa Monica Studio confirmed the story part itself while replying to a question asked by a curious fan on X.
Even in the recently released launch trailer for the DLC, the two Game Directors of Valhalla go on to explain that Kratos will be embarking on a personal journey. This aligns nicely with the earlier description by Santa Monica, which states that the DLC serves as the epilogue to Ragnarok’s end game, where the protagonist discovers what fate actually had in store for him all along.

In addition to the latter, God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla is also set to feature distinct unlockable trophies that are separate from the main game. Therefore, these won’t affect your rate of progression for the Platinum trophy, in case you’re still axing through the base campaign. If anything else, the added set of new trophies will entice players like me to dive straight into Valhalla with newfound anticipation.
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla was released today on December 12, 2023, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusively. Ragnarok, on the other hand, came out on November 9, 2022. eXputer reviewed the base game and rated it 4.5/5, with Huzaifah Durrani highlighting its “bone-chilling soundtrack, heartfelt yet gut-punching storytelling, or the extremely satisfying combat.”
