Guilty Gear STRIVE, Arc System Works’ latest hit fighting game just had its newest upcoming DLC fighter leaked. It seems that classic Guilty Gear character Jack-O’ is finally coming to STRIVE. The mysterious mask-wielding fighter first appeared in Guilty Gear X and Guilty Gear Xrd, and this is supposedly her third appearance in the franchise as a playable fighter.
The leak which was just posted by an unknown source on Reddit is coupled with a particularly legitimate key artwork of the character that is almost perfectly consistent with STRIVE’s other artwork. The leak was subsequently deleted within 15 minutes but was captured and saved by various other users on the site. While the leak does lack a reliable source and is set on a shaky foundation, the key art lends an overwhelming amount of credibility to the entire thing. Perfectly replicating an art-style for a basic troll over an upcoming fighting game character isn’t unheard of, but does indeed seem very far-fetched.
Guilty Gear STRIVE is currently one of the most successful fighting games of this generation, staying nearly toe-to-toe with the likes of Tekken, Street Fighter, and even Mortal Kombat. The Steam version of STRIVE has also very rapidly become the highest-selling fighting game on PC.
STRIVE launched on June 11 this year and has been released to almost universal acclaim from critics praising it for its deep yet accessible systems, robust training options, extremely varied and diverse rosters of characters, and near-flawless netcode while the game was also criticized for its lack of a proper story mode. The game also drew some criticism from hardcore professional players who called the game out for its simplicity and slower pace in comparison to the past entries in the series. The game has since come out on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
