It Seems Homelander Is Actually Coming To Mortal Kombat 1

Imagine the fatalities with this one.

Story Highlights

  • The Boys’ Homelander has gathered immense popularity across the world for his character that is ever so terrifyingly on display in the show. Homelander is a genetically enhanced being with Superman-like powers. His heart, however, is unlike anything the Man of Steel.
  • Mortal Kombat 1 was announced by NetherRealm Studios in May and a gameplay reveal trailer showcasing several Mortal Kombat characters has shone in the spotlight as well.
  • Titles in the franchise are known to feature guest characters, and this time, The Boys’ TikTok may have just confirmed that Homelander will be a part of Mortal Kombat 1’s roster.
  • This affirmation on TikTok perfectly aligns with a saucy rumor that made the rounds on the internet soon after the game was announced. An Amazon listing leaked a bunch of DLC characters coming to Mortal Kombat 1, with Homelander and Omni-Man being part of them.

An apparent case of mismanagement? Bad for the people up high, but good for us gamers. The Boys’ TikTok account VoughtStudios, the naming of which is derived from the notorious Vought organization in Amazon Prime’s famous television show, has seemingly confirmed that Homelander be a playable DLC character in Mortal Kombat 1 sooner or later. However, there’s no more information on when exactly the character will release.

The account admin replied to an excited fan under one of their videos relating to Call of Duty, affirming that a certain character from The Boys series is confirmed for Mortal Kombat 1, which has been only recently announced by NetherRealm Studios, so it’s unlikely that the TikTok account is referring to anything else. Now, I know how the account handler hasn’t put their finger on anything specific yet, but there’s more.

Upon viewing the entirety of the thread, another fan asks Vought International Studios whether they could go into more detail about the matter. To this, the TikTok account replies, “Homelander will be available at some point. That’s all we can say.” It’s a surprise that the comment hasn’t been deleted yet, as it evidently leaks a major in-game character way ahead of time.

Adding more fuel to the fire is another leak from 19 May, a day after the game was officially announced. An Amazon Italy listing of Mortal Kombat 1’s Premium Edition was spotted, mentioning a number of DLC characters in the product description, including the likes of Omni Man, Ermac, Peacemaker, and Homelander as well. If you head over to the product page now, you’ll find that the description has been switched up.

Early access (minimum 72 hours) – Copy of the game – Kombat Pack 1, which includes: 6 playable characters (Quan Chi, Omni Man, Ermac, Peacemaker, Takeda, Homelander) 5 Kameo characters (Tremor, Johnny Cage, Khameleon, Mavado, Ferra) – Skin of Jean Claude Van Damme,” read the leaked product description.

Moreover, there has been another corroboration for DC’s Peacemaker making his way to Mortal Kombat 1, although, at the time, the title wasn’t formally announced. For the uninitiated, Peacemaker is recognized as one of unsound mind, albeit a prominent character in the DC universe, who is willing to do anything to maintain his version of “peace.”

The Mortal Kombat franchise is no stranger to featuring playable fighters from other movie and video game series. Take a look at Mortal Kombat 11’s roster of guest characters and you’ll seemingly get lost in the sea of various options involved, such as RoboCop, The Terminator, Predator, Freddy Krueger, Spawn, and others. That’s why the community is already taking guesses at the type of figures that could be a part of this next title.

Mortal Kombat 1 is all set to release on 19 September, which is the same month as the launch of Starfield, for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch, while effectively skipping last-gen platforms. If you pre-order any of the two special editions of the title, you’d be able to play the game on 14 September, which is basically five days of early access.
