Spider-Man 2’s Venom VA Also Recorded Lines For A Symbiotic Miles

This is either simple cut content or a set-up for a future project.

Story Highlights

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the latest action-adventure exclusive released for the PlayStation 5.
  • Venom’s VA has revealed that he also recorded voice lines for Miles when he wore the symbiote suit.
  • However, no such instance occurs in the game, leading fans to ponder Insomniac projects.

Sitting down in the Fan Expo San Francisco panel that ran between November 24-26, Tony Todd — Venom’s VA in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 — has seemingly confirmed (via Evan Filarca) that he recorded voice lines for Miles Morales when he wore the symbiote suit. News flash, but this also may come across as spoiler territory: Miles never wears said suit in the entire game!

It is likely that this particular content was cut from making it through to the finished copy of the game. Or, which is a much wilder notion, Insomniac is plotting something for Spider-Man 2 in the form of DLC, just like how it did with the first Spider-Man title from 2018, treating it to an expansion in the name of Miles Morales. This lines in perfectly with another statement by Tony Todd, who claims that only 10% of Venom’s dialogue has been used in Spider-Man 2

As the news found itself circulating on Reddit, LostInStatic commented, “That whole Flame questline was garbage. Nothing is really answered about what the cult is or their deal is besides setting up a train heist and then it’s just over. Total sequel bait,” thereby criticizing the lack of depth in some aspects of Spider-Man 2. In particular, the comment refers to the Carnage arc being foreshadowed in-game.

As you start playing, you’ll also find multiple variations of symbiote-centric outfits for Miles Morales, so that is another inclination that the devs either want to do something in this regard or wanted to for the Puerto Rican Spider-Man. For starters, the Dark Ages suit looks like a mixture of both Carnage and Venom, given how the Dark Ages comic book series sees both symbiotes bonding with Miles together.

Now, as iterated earlier, Miles isn’t the one who gets the symbiote—it’s Peter. As a matter of fact, Miles is the one who knocks some sense into the OG Spider-Man when he starts doing more harm than good, which is pretty much the polar opposite of the whole superhero mantra. Now, as for what Tony has revealed in recent times, this could also hint at a potential Venom spin-off, which is something that developers have shed light on already.

On a side note, Spider-Man 2’s Creative Director Bryan Intihar has also teased Daredevil, another fan-favorite Marvel Comics character that folks have been begging to see more of in the style of a video game. It is also possible that Matt Murdock gets his screen time as well in a possible future DLC.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 came out on October 10, 2023, for the PlayStation 5. eXputer reviewed the game and rated it 4/5, calling it yet another incredible PlayStation exclusive and saying, “Spider-Man 2 is a cut above its predecessor, with significantly improved gameplay and a narrative that tugs at your heartstrings.” If you’d like to explore New York City more, start with these easter eggs
