Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa Heisei Reiwa Sells 1.5 Million Units in Total

The critically acclaimed board game achieves a new milestone

Momotaro Dentetsu is a series of popular dice-based board games that have sparked up quite the excitement in Japan. It has made its appearance on several consoles, including Game Gear, PlayStation 2, and even the Xbox 360.  The mechanics of Momotaro are comparable to other board games like Monopoly.

The latest installment of the series, Showa Heisei Reiwa, was released just a month ago on Nov 19. However, the game has recently achieved a landmark of 1.5 million copies sold, according to the developer’s Twitter handle.

The fact that Showa Heisei Reiwa has hit big figures in this short time frame speaks volumes about the game’s seemingly bright future. The board gamer had 500,000 units shipped within three days of its release to reflect on its launch. Moreover, it’s also worth noting that the game is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.

Showa Heisei Reiwa puts you in the shoes of a railroad company president whose only ambition is to purchase properties all across Japan and become the country’s number 1 asset-holder. The game continues from the last entry in the series and adds a plethora of more properties to it. Furthermore, mysterious events, such as monster encounters, also affect your journey in significant ways.

Do you think that the game is killing it for the right reason? Let us know your thoughts down in the comment section.
