NieR Re[in]carnation Blows Past 5 Million Downloads

The action RPG takes the world by storm

NieR Re[in]carnation is seemingly hitting huge numbers just days after its release. As of February 24, 2021, the game has exceeded 5 million downloads on the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store collectively.

The developer announced this breakthrough in a tweet on their official Twitter account, and to celebrate this spell of fortune, users are liable to receive an award of 1000 Gems and “various reinforcement materials” in-game.

NieR Re[in]carnation is set in the NieR universe and is known to be a prequel to Nier Automata – another stellar Nier title that won “The Game Awards for Best Score and Music” among other distinctions. Re[in]carnation, however, features a separate storyline with a protagonist that sports a hidden dark mystery.

One of the action RPG’s writers Yoko Taro said that it was heavily taken into account how a new entry in the series may not appeal much to Nier fans, but the game is directed in a way that any smartphone gamer will begin to develop a fond likeness for it, let alone followers of the franchise.

Perhaps, the game’s bewildering storyline and enchanting gameplay are responsible for its early success. We have yet to see how sales go in the long run though.
