PlayStation’s Holiday Sale Round-Up: Best Discounted Deals

If you've been holding back on some of these brilliant titles, the revised PlayStation Holiday Sale running until January 17 is the perfect occasion to stretch your wallet.

Story Highlights

  • The PlayStation Holiday Sale has been revised for another round that’ll last until January 17.
  • Previously, the sale occasion ran between December 21 and January 3.
  • The promotion discounts some of the best games in the business, including Hogwarts Legacy

After finishing things up with the first Holiday Sale that stretched from December 21 to January 3, PlayStation is back with another mouth-watering promotion on its official storefront, thereby revising the original sale for yet one more round. This time, the deals extend until January 17, so you’ve got plenty of time to reach out for your wallet and pull the trigger.

There are about 122 pages on the “Deals” section of the PlayStation Store, with each page hosting 24 games. Quite obviously, you’d be hard-pressed to go through them all and find those lucky gems waiting for your click of purchase, so we’ve already done the difficult part of the work for you and laid out the best-discounted titles worth picking up this holiday season.

Let’s check these top picks out right away.

Best PlayStation Holiday Deals You Shouldn’t Pass Up On

Here are the best PlayStation Holiday deals that you should be looking into, now that we’re hard into the savings season. There are some pretty big hits in there that have been discounted to gracious numbers, including Hogwarts Legacy and God of War Ragnarok. Make sure to go through the full list for the best results.

1. Red Dead Redemption 2 (70% Off)

Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2

Starting off the list is the ever-excellent Red Dead Redemption 2 by Rockstar Games, a giant in the realm of open-world game development. For what it’s worth, the West-centric action-adventure shooter is 70% off at the moment on the PlayStation Store, and I think this is as good as it gets. And it’s the Ultimate Edition in question here, that gets you Special Edition Content and a bunch of other in-game goodies too.

We deem this particular variant of the title very well worth it, even at full price, so the value proposition is terrific when you’re getting the whole bundle for somewhere around $30. Talk about extra content for the title’s online mode, and additional stuff for you to tinker with in the story aspect of the third-person shooter.

2. Hogwarts Legacy Digital Deluxe Edition (50% Off)

Ending the year on a fantastic note, Hogwarts Legacy has been crowned UK’s biggest boxed release of 2023, overtaking the likes of EA FC 24, or in other terms, a football game, for the first time in a decade. It’s got great action, a fantastic open world that has been designed with a lot of effort and love, and seamless gameplay. Quite worth picking up at $39.99, especially since it’s the Deluxe Edition that’s on sale.

In case you’re wondering, players get an exclusive new quest along with the Dark Arts Pack when they opt for this particular edition of the title, not to mention the Dark Arts Garrison Hat wearable as well. There’s a reason why players have clocked a total of 700 million hours on Hogwarts Legacy—feel free to give it a go and find out why.

That said, it’s entirely possible that Hogwarts Legacy might not be for you, so here’s a safe bet: Check out our in-depth review of the RPG and find out where it shines and where it takes a nosedive.

3. Resident Evil 4 Digital Deluxe Edition

The Resident Evil 4 remake ended up becoming eXputer’s Game of the Year 2023, and not without good reason. This faithful reimagining of the 2004 classic kept me on the edge of my seat through and through, thereby standing as a testament to Capcom’s supreme ability as I poured my hours into it and experienced utter bliss. Fantastic gameplay, great visuals, and powerful nostalgia relived—it’s the total package.

The game’s Deluxe Edition currently enjoys a 44% discount at the time of writing, which reduces its default MSRP to $39.19. With this edition, players get the extra DLC pack along with the base game, which encompasses costumes, accessories, special weapons, and even an in-game treasure map. Getting the Deluxe Edition as a first-time player can be a nice way of getting the most out of the title.

Here’s our 5/5 review of Resident Evil 4 just in case, written by our review expert Abdul Haddi, so you can evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the title and formulate a purchasing decision accordingly.

4. Assassin’s Creed Mirage And Valhalla Bundle (50% Off)

Looking to take out two birds with one shot? This bundle that’s normally worth a flat $100 should help you get the best out of recent Assassin’s Creed games at the nicely discounted price of $49.99. It’s lined up both Valhalla, the 2020-released iteration that focuses more on RPG elements, and Mirage, a more of a back-to-basics effort by Ubisoft that emphasizes stealth over ethereal action.

eXputer rated Mirage 3.5/5 in its review, highlighting its creative level design and fluid parkour to boot. Valhalla, on the other hand, earned 4.5/5 due to its refreshed gameplay, excellent soundtrack, powerful narrative, and a fresh cast of characters. If you’ve got a thing for Assassin’s Creed games, the bundle in question won’t disappoint you.

5. Lies Of P Deluxe Edition (20% Off)

Moving forward, Lies of P has made the cut on this list of the best PlayStation Holiday Sale deals, and rightfully so. The 2023 Soulslike brings forth an excellent take on Lovecraftian horror, and at 20% off — which may not seem much, of course — the title is an exceptionally good time. You’re also getting its Deluxe Edition for $55.99, which otherwise sets players back $69.99.

The third-person action-driven title does not have DLC yet, although it’s about to, so the Deluxe Edition is purely cosmetic-based. It comes with three different wearables for Pinnochio, namely The Great Venigni’s Glasses, Deluxe Edition Cosmetic Mask, and The Great Venigni’s Signature Coat.

6. Far Cry Anthology Bundle (75% Off)

Ubisoft is pretty generous when it comes to sales and discounts, so I already expected the French industry tycoon to be present at PlayStation’s Holiday Sale with attractive offerings. One of the bundles I spotted is the Far Cry Anthology bundle, comprising the last four Far Cry games, including the latest one Far Cry 6, for a spectacular price of $37.49. For reference, the default pricing of the bundle is $150, so there’s that.

I suggest starting off with Far Cry 3, which is arguably considered one of the best games in the entire franchise, and then working your way up from there. Far Cry 6 is pretty fun too but has its fair share of dull moments as well, as pointed out in our 4/5 review of the game. Anyway, the bundle is still a whole lot of fun and pretty worth the cost at sub $38.

7. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Deluxe Edition

Jedi: Survivor is another one of the superb Soulslikes released in 2023 that has managed to earn a solid reputation not long after release. Although marred for its performance on PC at launch, the game itself is done well and features plenty of great moments that keep you hooked to it from start to finish. The action-packed narrative-based gameplay sees Cal Kestis making a return and facing new dangers across the Empire.

eXputer called Star Wars Jedi: Survivor the best Star Wars game in decades in its review, rating it 4/5 for its refined combat that sports several Lightsaber stances, brilliant art direction, and polished traversal. The Deluxe Edition comes for $89.99 normally, but thanks to the Holiday event, you can grab it for about $54 right now. It grants players access to a swath of extra cosmetic items.

8. Lords Of The Fallen Deluxe Edition (35% Off)

Finding yourself in the mood for a hardcore Soulslike with a unique realm-switching mechanic? Lords of the Fallen at $52 right now is a good pick to pursue, especially since it’s the Deluxe Edition that’s been put on sale at the moment. With this variant, you get the title’s OST, a 100-page digital art book, a 3D model viewer, a new class, and a weapon and armor set.

eXputer reviewed Lords of the Fallen and rated it 3.5/5 for its magnificent visual appeal, quality combat, and stunning enemy design. Developer Hexworks plans on pushing out a fair bit of post-launch content for the RPG, so the game certainly seems relevant even down the road two to three years ahead.

9. Gran Turismo 7 (43% Off)

GT7 on the PS Store

Gran Turismo 7 is PlayStation’s flagship racing simulation franchise, and the direct competitor to Xbox’s Forza Motorsport. If you’re into professional racing games like Asseto Corsa with nothing but realism to their name, GT7 looks like it’s just for you, now that it’s also discounted to $39.89 instead of the usual $69.99 MSRP.

You will need some serious storage to get the title up and running though; Gran Turismo 7 is one of PlayStation’s biggest games in terms of size, requiring a minimum of 110 GB of storage for a complete install.

10. Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition (34% Off)

PlayStation’s flagship action-adventure franchise Horizon found a sequel in the name of Forbidden West, loaded to the brim with jaw-dropping visuals and top-tier gameplay mechanics. The Complete Edition of the game coming with the critically acclaimed Burning Shores expansion and a myriad of other digital goodies has been discounted to $39.59 at the time of writing, making the whole deal all the more worth it.

eXputer’s 4.5/5 review of the RPG holds the action-adventure in high graces, with senior review editor Huzaifah Durrani highlighting the venture’s fantastic combat, stellar story, colorful, characters, and more.

Takeaway – Great Games, Even Greater Prices

2024 paints an immensely bright future for PlayStation fans as various studios, both first-party and non-exclusives, prepare themselves for some of the biggest releases this year will see, including Stellar Blade, Tekken 8, Rise of the Ronin, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and more. Until then, the Holiday Sale on the PS storefront can help you catch up with top-tier titles that came out last year and the years preceding.

I personally picked up Resident Evil 4’s Deluxe Edition and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Deluxe Edition—terrific games at great prices that I couldn’t just skip past. Oh, and in case you missed it, Sony announced another delight for players back in December by giving away the PlayStation 5 Slim along with 12 months of PS Plus Premium. The competition is still live; do participate and you might just end up winning.
