Resident Evil 9 Allegedly Stars Leon And Jill; It May Have Co-Op Elements

The credible German insider, Andi from Screenfire Germany, claimed during a live stream that Resident Evil 9 will star both Leon and Jill as protagonists. This is contrary to the past belief that teased Leon as the game’s sole main character. All the other juicy details from the stream have been transcribed on Reddit, which also mentions that RE9 may have co-op elements.

It was allegedly supposed to be a co-op title, but the devs went single-player after seeing the success of Resident Village and the new Resident Evil 4 remake. Andi is unclear whether there will still be a form of co-op like seen in past RE releases. The insider also shot down another strong rumor about RE9 being a complete open-world experience. It will indeed have open-world elements, but something like RE Village and RE4 remake. 

Lastly, Capcom wants to release RE9 in third-person mode, with plans to sneak in first-person after launch. The rest he discussed are mostly speculations that might be worth a listen.

Capcom Is Still Quiet About Resident Evil 9

A bunch of details about the next mainline Resident Evil game have already come out besides these new findings. As a result, the community is in a bit of disarray regarding what to believe and whether the title even actually exists. Many players are excited and worried at the same time. Regardless, as per a prolific insider, the entry has seemingly been internally delayed to late 2025 or early 2026.
