Venom On A Bicycle Is The Goofiest Thing You’ll See In Spider-Man 2

Before he was terrifying, now he's unstoppable.

Story Highlights

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the biggest video game releases this year.
  • A glitch discovered by a player in the game makes Venom free-roam playable.
  • Using the glitch, you can also ride a bicycle with Venom in Spider-Man 2.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 lets you take on New York with both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, but there’s a brief sequence within the game that lets you play as another character too. However, the period of play for this figure is fairly limited, and leaves fans wanting more. Please note that major Spider-Man 2 spoilers await ahead. If you’re new to the game, do proceed with caution.

A new glitch in Spider-Man 2 makes it possible to unlock free-roam play with Venom. As you’re waltzing around with the symbiote during the Don’t Be Scared main mission of the campaign, which ultimately sees the end of Kraven the Hunter in a headless fashion, you can ignore the mission path and execute a glitch to make Venom explore New York with ease. The following video explains how to get that done.

Now, all that’s good and fine, but there’s something else that Venom does when he breaks into the glitch, and it’s totally the most Venom thing you’d expect from the guy. By heading down to the Astoria district in Spider-Man 2, you can find a bicycle to hop on. There’s no UI element that will instruct you how to ride the vehicle, so you’ll have to hit the “Triangle” button yourself to get on it.

And there it is folks, the vicious Venom wobbling from one side to the other while he rides a bike on the streets of New York is no less than a sight to behold. And oh, don’t forget that his tongue is out during the whole thing. The lad seems to be enjoying the outing, it seems. On a serious note, though, this whole scenario has fans asking for a Venom DLC or a spin-off game—whatever works for Insomniac.

Speaking of which, there’s news on this front that you might want to read up on. The Senior Narrative Director at Insomniac Games spoke in an interview when asked whether there is a potential Venom game fans can look forward to down the road, said that the decision vastly depends on the reaction of fans and what they want the most.

So, here’s what we’re doing. We’re focused on ‘Spider-Man 2,’ and what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna wait to see how the fans react. We’re gonna listen to the fans and we’re gonna ask ourselves, ‘Okay, what do the fans really want?’ We’ll kind of talk about stuff after we’ve all had time to sleep and take vacations,” said Jon Paquette.
