Story Highlights

  • The story of Stellar Blade will take 25 hours to finish according to director Kim Hyung Tae.
  • 100% completion could take anywhere between 30 to 50 hours depending on the player.
  • The director also said that Shift Up delayed the game to polish it, there weren’t any defects.

In a new interview, Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung Tae has revealed that the action-adventure title’s main story will take 25 hours to complete. While talking to the Korean website Ruliweb, the Shift Up CEO also stated that 100% completion of the game may take up to 50 hours for the average player with the median being 30-50 hours.

Kim Hyung Tae also addressed the delay Stellar Blade has faced, saying that the game’s launch was only postponed so the studio could polish it further and not because he thought the title had defects. Originally, Sony announced that the action-adventure game would be released in 2023, but in December the game was officially scheduled for a 2024 launch.

It is not that defects were discovered during the inspection process, but the release was delayed due to the polishing process. Play time is expected to be about 25 hours for the main story and 30 to 50 hours if you include all the collection elements.”

First announced in 2019 as Project Eve, Stellar Blade was supposed to be released on last-gen consoles like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in addition to PC but this all changed in September 2021 when the title became a PS5 exclusive. Set in a dystopian future where humanity lost Earth to an alien species called Naytiba, Stellar Blade puts you in the shoes of protagonist Eve as she helps the people of Xion, the last city on Earth, and tries to reclaim Earth.

Inspired by games and movies like Nier, Sekiro, Blade Runner, and Bayonetta, Stellar Blade puts heavy emphasis on boss battles and will feature a lot of combat variety. Moreover, the game will have 22 languages and 9 voice-over dubs with a Japanese dub exclusive to Japan, meaning every player can enjoy it. Filled with side quests from Xion residents, fishing, and over 30 costumes for Eve, the Shift Up title is certainly promising.

Stellar Blade will launch on April 26, 2024, exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
