The Super Mario RPG remake was announced only recently in the recent Nintendo Direct 2023 event, but it has reportedly surpassed a major milestone. It is certainly a good sign for the Super Mario RPG remake because many fans have already started pre-ordering the game soon after it was announced. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was all the hype, and it was able to live up to it, yet even its sales have already been beaten despite the newly-revealed remake having been listed only for a short amount of time.

Comparing the remake’s current sales to the original version, we can easily predict that it may surpass it by a wide margin. The original Super Mario RPG on SNES reportedly rolled over more than 200k units in one month in the United States, which was a huge number back in the day. However, the new remake could easily surpass that if the best-sellers list is to be believed.

The sudden rise of the remake in Amazon’s best-sellers list puts things into perspective regarding the popularity of the project. The Nintendo fans have grown a whole lot in numbers since the initial release of the Super Mario RPG; the remake will have both old and new players to significantly increase its player base.

It is worth noting that most of the top 5 spots are riddled with popular Nintendo entries in the best-sellers category of Amazon US, hinting towards its dominance in the western region. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is at the 7th spot, and Square Enix’s new Final Fantasy 16 boasts the 12th place. While we do not know the exact sales number, it is clear that the Super Mario RPG remake has outperformed these big AAA titles to stand at the peak.

The recent Nintendo Direct event was nothing short of exhilarating, revealing some of the heartiest entries that no one expected. Super Mario RPG remake is among the most fan-favorite titles to be announced at the event, pulling just the right heartstrings of the wistful fans. The awaited title will serve as the best venture into the classical and reimagined Mario experience we know and love both for nostalgic veterans and new gamers alike.
