Tekken 8 Confirmed To Make An Appearance At The Game Awards

A veteran Tekken commentator has seemingly spilled the beans already.

Tekken 8 is a long-expected, highly anticipated fighting game that is due to continue the legacy of the Tekken franchise. According to Aris — iconic Tekken personality and a professional commentator as well — the latest entry in the legendary fighting series is going to put on a show at The Game Awards 2022.

Dedicated promotional content for the game including a themed shirt and a poster seems to be shared by Aris in photo format. This imminently spells Tekken 8’s very own showcase at the forthcoming award ceremony which is due to take place on December 8, 2022.

The Rundown:

  • Tekken 8 is the eighth mainline installment in the Tekken franchise that picks things up directly from its predecessor Tekken 7.
  • The game already has its formal announcement come out, but nothing more regarding the release date of the title has been talked about as of yet. This soon might change though, given the news we’ve been dealt with in recent times.
  • Aris, otherwise known as AvoidThePuddle on Twitter, has shared a photo recently that appears to show a dedicated Tekken 8 card. The promotional poster for the game states quite blatantly, “Tune into The Game Awards livestream!

Taking to Twitter, Aris has uploaded the following to show to the world. This more or less makes it crystal clear that fans and enthusiasts will be seeing Tekken 8 at the much anticipated The Game Awards 2022 event on December 8, which isn’t too far off now.

Tekken 8 has had the fighting game community waiting for its fair share of time. The last rendition in the series, Tekken 7, came out in 2015, so that makes an 8-year difference between it and a new Tekken title. However, that is to take confidence in the fact that Tekken 8 could be arriving at the forefront of the gaming realm in 2023.

At EVO 2022 – one of the biggest fighting game tournaments in the world — Tekken 8 was very decently teased. The 20-second or so clip showcased Kazuya transitioning from his childhood age with retro graphics to a full-blown adult version that was dripping from top to bottom with terrific graphical quality.

However, soon after this short reveal, a full-fledged announcement kicked into motion at the State of Play event where a bunch of other games came out in the open as well. The revealed footage had Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama on display where both men exchanged blows like just another Tuesday.

Have to hand it to the Mishima bloodline though. These people certainly know how to sustain a healthy relationship with each other. Got a problem? Fight it out, most preferably to the death.

In other news, rumors have been going around in Tekken 8’s context. It is possible that the upcoming fighting game could feature more guest fighters from Capcom and SNK. Moreover, it’s quite likely at this point now that Tekken 8 might as well be featuring a 2023 release date, but only time will tell how that turns out.

The Game Awards 2022 can be one of the most memorable nights for the fighting game community. Word is that apart from Tekken 8 news, Street Fighter 6 could be getting a release date too right alongside a possible, by a stretch though, reveal of the next Mortal Kombat or Injustice game. Do take this in with a pinch of salt though.

Tekken 8 will release for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC via Steam.
