Wild Hearts was only recently teased and Jeff Grubb speculated that it will release before March 31, 2023. Now, we have been blessed with a gameplay reveal trailer that gives us a better look at what the game may be, and a release date and platforms as well.
Major Takeaways:
- Wild Hearts trailer has been revealed.
- A game that is similar to the Monster Hunter series.
- Suspected to release before March ends next year.
Earlier this month, EA and Koei Tecmo announced their partnership to work “on the Next Great Hunting Game” according to the blog post. This partnership is a product of the EA Originals program through which EA will publish the AAA game. Wild Hearts is developed by Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force dev, responsible for the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series.
Yosuke Hayashi, Executive Vice President of KOEI TECMO GAMES CO, LTD, said:
It’s an honor to be partnering with EA Originals and to have the support of a team with such an incredible track record of releasing groundbreaking new games. The EA team fully embraces our creative independence and have become invaluable partners offering both development and publishing support. Adding the global resources of EA with our own will help us introduce a new kind of hunting game to a global audience of players and expand our reach into global markets. I’m really looking forward to the day that gamers from around the world can play this new game.”
Supporting the statement of Yosuke Hayashi, Jeff Gamon, General Manager of EA Partners said:
Building on the incredible success of EA Originals, which includes the recent releases of It Takes Two and Knockout City™, we’re thrilled to be partnering with the amazingly talented Omega Force team. They’ve elevated the hunting genre to the next level, merging their proven talent for combat gameplay with unexpected and innovative mechanics. We can’t wait to introduce their groundbreaking new adventure to the world later this month.”
As can be seen from the ga replay reveal, Wild HEarts seems to bear many similarities to the Monster Hunter series by Capcom.
The most obvious one is of course the giant monsters and creatures that we see in the reveal. In addition to various types of gigantic monsters and various environments, we also see different weapons and equipment as well, such as wheat seems to be a glider, in addition to explosive devices.
Moreover, we also see hunters working together to take down the nefarious beasts we see, as the game will have cross-play co-op with up to three players, which is a given for a game of this type, especially in this age and gaming atmosphere.
Details are sparse as of yet, but we have gotten a concrete release date as well, and it was just as Grubb suspected. The trailer revealed that the game will be released on 17th February 2023 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC (via Steam, Epic Games, Origin).
In a follow-up press release, EA stated that an extended gameplay reveal will take place on October 5.
WILD HEARTSwhisks players away on an epic adventure set in fantasy feudal Japan. There, they’ll battle against giant nature-infused beasts called Kemono with the help of Karakuri, sophisticated mechanisms crafted from a lost, ancient technology.
States the press release. Wild Hearts takes place in Azuma, a fantasy landscape inspired by feudal Japan, that is now rampaged by the once peaceful Kemono that can range just as much in size as they do in visual features.
Players can battle alone or join up with up to two friends for co-op play, and the game will have cross-play across all platforms.
