Baldur’s Gate 3 has been flourishing on Xbox ever since its release, but it also ran into some rather unique issues. A player was allegedly banned from Xbox for a year after he recorded some indecent clips from the game. The controversial part of the whole fiasco is that the recordings were kept private and not sent to anyone else. Xbox explains that Baldur’s Gate 3 clips get auto-uploaded to the cloud, which leads to these bans. The punishments were rumored to be automatically issued. But Xbox denies the rumor and claims that each clip gets reviewed by a moderator before a user is punished. In other words, Xbox is manually banning players for recording improper scenes.
Our team evaluates appeals and can reverse suspensions if action was taken in error. If this was a first offense, for example, we will remove the suspension and let players know why it happened and how to avoid future issues.”
The support page clarifies that it is necessary to turn off auto-upload when sensitive Baldur’s Gate 3 footage is being recorded, providing steps to do so. Additionally, the page will bring no content policy or moderation changes and advises users to turn off the setting to not get banned in the future. Larian Studios previously called these bans “annoying and uncool” before contacting Microsoft, which likely led to this statement.
