PlayStation Store is Sony’s hub for its consoles which offers a slew of products for gamers to enjoy. It is frequently visited by PlayStation users and continues to gain popularity for its increasing list of features. However, the store is also home to various issues that hamper the user experience by reducing quality and causing annoying bugs.

Sony is reportedly working towards improving the player experience, and it has recently made a move that could dramatically shift the PS Store as we know it. The treasure trove of games has seen a significant addition; Sony has seemingly hired the former Apple executive, Ben King, to work towards improving the PlayStation Store.

As reported by Variety, the ex-Apple executive will now work under Sony Interactive Entertainment as senior VP of direct-to-consumer, where he will be managing the PlayStation Store alongside the rest of PlayStation’s direct-to-consumer industry. Ben garners a lot of experience in the field, having worked for over 12 years under Apple.

Ben King sang praises of the PlayStation store, noting that it “has become one of the most visited digital media stores on the planet.” Additionally, the former executive is looking to deepen the relationship with the users and further improve the store financially and in user experience.

This gives us the unique opportunity to think creatively about the relationship with our users, helping them to unlock maximum fun and joy from the PlayStation ecosystem, while simultaneously creating financial opportunity for our games studio partners,” noted Ben King.

The senior VP has also discussed many methods to enhance the PS Store. The former Apple executive is seeking to “better serve our community by delivering more personalized experiences, helping each and every customer to discover the perfect entertainment for them, through the right channel, at the right time.

The community has commemorated Sony’s union with the former Apple executive, claiming it to be a good sign of what is to come for the store. Ben King has a splendid track record from when he worked under Apple and developed various international growth strategies as Apple Services Division executive.

Furthermore, the PlayStation Store is already trekking along a successful path, recently releasing the ability to create personalized PS Store gift cards to endow others. Perhaps Ben King could finally fulfill the biggest wish of gamers, the ability to give games to friends as gifts straight from the PlayStation consoles.

Sony’s store has also begun tackling issues like the notable “jumping games,” which have haunted the store’s dark corners for millennia. It appears that the store is still loaded with these games to some extent, but it will start fizzling out soon.
