Story Highlights
- The PlayStation 5 Pro is Sony’s latest flagship device, coming out with a swath of enhanced games.
- The console’s sales are going well, with Sony claiming them to be better than the PS4 Pro.
- Sony president also does not project the PS5 Pro to have great sales in the first place.
You’d think that a console as high-priced as the PlayStation 5 Pro would struggle to meet sales expectations, but that’s really not the case here. As per a new report by Nikkei Asia, Sony Group Corporation president and CEO Hiroki Totoki has let out an interesting statement pertaining to the sales of the Pro console.
As said earlier by the PlayStation boss as well, the company’s goal right now is to make the PS5 Pro represent the platform as a whole rather than sell the most number of units. That’s just not what Sony has in mind at the moment.
It is a high-end product targeted at core customers, so we haven’t been eyeing a large sales plan to begin with. I’m under the impression that the product is performing slightly stronger than the pre-orders of the PS4 Pro during the same period, so I don’t think it is adversely affecting the product’s sales plan.”
Moreover, it’s interesting to note that sales of the Pro console look even better than the PlayStation 4 Pro comparatively, which came out all the way back in 2016 as Sony’s first “Pro” console.
Additionally, it seems that while a lot of people had a problem with the pricing of the hardware unit, the issue does not seem to be reflected in sales. People are still buying the PS5 Pro, even at a slightly better pace than the PS4 Pro which made landfall with a $399 launch price.
