Helldivers 2 Will Now Force You To Link Your Steam Account To PSN

Helldivers 2 players on Steam will now have to link their profile to a PlayStation Network account in order to play the game. This requirement was previously optional since the game’s launch due to technical difficulties. According to the statement from Sony, account linking will play a critical role in protecting the players and upholding the values of safety and security provided on PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games.

New players will be required to have their PSN account linked to their Steam starting from May 6th. Meanwhile, current players will start seeing the mandatory login from May 30th and will be required to have their accounts linked by June 4th. Note that it is completely free to set up a PlayStation Network account, even if you don’t own the console.

Sony Will Now Hold More Power Over The Players

Judging from the statement, it appears that Sony will have more power over the players and will be able to protect players from griefing and abuse. The linking of accounts will also give a right to appeal to all the players who have been banned due to abusive behavior or grief.

Helldivers 2 became an exceptionally popular title right after its launch on PlayStation 5 and PC on February 8, 2024.
