New God of War Ragnarok Trailer Shows New Enemies, Thor, And Fenrir

A new trailer for God of War Ragnarok has been shown at State of Play that showcases more of the story, including a look at Fenrir and Thor, and new realms.

Sony is a powerhouse of solid IPs. These include the massively successful series God of War, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Horizon, and so much more. God of War had a tumultuous after God of War 3, as the series wavered from title to title, before being dormant for a long time.

Then came God of War (2018) which left its audience in awe. Not only was it a spectacular combat game, but also had a deeply human and captivating story about a father and son traveling together, discovering themselves, and facing their fears and their pasts head-on together.

Ever since God of War was released, fans had been aching for more, and Santa Monica delivered. God of War Ragnarok was announced to be the next title in the series, but this time to be helmed by another long-time God of War dev Eric Williams, who had worked on various installments and was the combat director of the series.

After a long period of getting only brief snippets of information from time to time, today we finally might have gotten an extended look at it but sadly, the new trailer still does not showcase anything significantly new. It seems that as it nears release, Sony is bent on keeping it under tight wraps

This is not going to be great news for fans who have been clamoring for more info on Ragnarok as Sony has been mostly radio silent on anything related to it since its initial showcase last year, but at least we got another look at Thor.

We suspected we would get a look at God of War Ragnarok since multiple figures involved with the project both inside and outside Santa Monica retweeted the State of Play announcement, and though it was true and the game did have a showing at State of Play, it wasn’t of much significance.

The trailer showed both returning ones and some new enemies, including some that appeared to be similar to the Valkyries from the first game, and some combat skills and features that we have seen in previous showcases.

In addition to stunning visuals, it showed a very brief shot of Kratos battling Thor. Although the trailer gave no new information or lengthy gameplay reveals, it certainly was a treat to watch as God of War Ragnarok nears release.

It has been rumored that Ragnarok will be the benchmark of visuals on the PS4, so owners of the console may have something very stunning and beautiful to look forward to.

Although it had a great story, there were still fans who were not impressed by the combat. However, Ragnarok seems to be focusing much more on variety and diversity in combat scenarios than the previous game. This is no doubt owed to Eric Williams, the director, who has for long been the combat director of the God of War games.

As the game nears its release date of November 9, 2022, fans are getting more excited by the minute. They wish to experience not only the supposedly better combat, but also the alluring story as it shows a somewhat grown Atreus, and fans are eager to know where the father-son duo goes from here on.

Also shown during the State of Play event was a God of War Ragnarok edition of the DualSense controller. This certainly looks very beautiful while trying to capture the feel of Ragnarok’s world, and would potentially be a must-have for any God of War fan.

The release of God of War on PC significantly boosted the number of fans the franchise had. Although for now there is no stated or planned release of Ragnarok on PC, we can be sure that fans won’t take even a second to snatch this game from store shelves and digital marketplaces.
