Story Highlights
- Remnant 2, the eagerly anticipated sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes, is all set to release on July 25 2023 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via a couple of major storefronts. The developer—Gunfire Games—is known to have worked on the Darksiders IP in the past.
- Although the Souls-like third-person shooter is more than a week away from its release, Remnant 2 has started to make an appearance on the best-sellers list of Steam and Epic Games Store, hinting that pre-orders for the title are going well.
- This time around, Remnant 2 is going to feature procedural generation on a whole new level, not just switching up the spawn areas of enemies and the layout of the environment like its predecessor. Instead, the NPCs, bosses, types of foes, and level design will also be randomized.
Gunfire Games’ latest venture in the name of Remnant 2 is already making a name for itself on popular PC storefronts. The third-person Souls-like shooter is currently enjoying the 7th spot on the Top Sellers list of the Epic Games Store, competing against a majority that has already been released. Earlier today, Remnant 2 was observed in the top-5 section, but it appears some other sales have overtaken the game for now.
Moving on to Steam, this is where the game is progressing slowly but surely up the ranks of the best-sellers. At the time of writing, Remnant 2 is locked in at the 9th spot, positioned right below the likes of Dave the Diver, Baldur’s Gate 3, and the recently released live service shooter Exoprimal. The fact that the title isn’t even out yet and is currently more than a week away from its release paints a good picture as to what the overall sales will look like in the near future.
Up until now, Remnant 2 has done splendidly in showcasing how much it has evolved over its predecessor, thereby effectively learning from the failures of the original Remnant. It’s been noted that the storyline of the first game is shallow and that the environment could’ve truly used some glow-up. While we can’t say much about the plot right now, the level design in Remnant is already stirring up excitement.
Moreover, the bland gameplay that the first Remnant put up now seems to be nonexistent with the sequel, given the involvement of more unique Archetypes (or classes) and their subsequent customization. The Gunslinger class, in particular, is a brand-new entry in the title, put in place of the Ex-cultist from the original Remnant. This particular character relies on an assailment of firearms to tear apart their foes.
In other news, Gunfire Games has hosted a dashing “Swag Kit” giveaway for fans of Remnant 2, including a number of goodies, such as a properly sized backpack, the Gunslinger hat, and even a metal print of the Pan Empress. You can still participate in the giveaway right now, since no winners have been announced, nor is the closure of the promotional event.
Simply head to the official website and sign up for its newsletter. You’ll be good to go. But beware though, the giveaway is for European and UK citizens only. Upon visualizing the contents of the giveaway, many fans have expressed how they wished all that extra stuff would’ve been part of a Remnant 2 Collectors Edition, but we don’t see that coming true anytime soon.
