A Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Movie Pitch Got Rejected By Warner Bros.

The Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe movie pitch was rejected by Warner Bros. Jeremy Adams, the writer of several Mortal Kombat and some DC projects including Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge revealed that he had pitched the idea to the studio only to be “rebuffed.” The fighting video game was a huge success in 2008 and fans have since been demanding more content along the game’s line.

Jeremy was talking to the renowned industry news website, ComicBook.com. The interviewer asked him whether being involved with several Mortal Kombat and “quite a few” DC projects was leading up to something. And if the fans should hold any expectations. In response to this, he said that he would advise them to “lower your expectations” as he had actually pitched the idea to Warner Bros. “a while ago” but the studio had rejected it.

I would lower your expectations. I don’t know if they have any plans to do more. I do know that we pitched that a while ago, but it was kind of rebuffed.”

Like many Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe admirers, this baffled the interviewer. Because there has been an ever-increasing number of voices calling for another Mortal Kombat and DC crossover project, especially after the release of Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge in 2020. Jeremy, despite being uncertain, was hopeful that the studio would plan something over this idea and that he would love to be involved with such a project.

I don’t know if they’re ever going to do any more. I hope they do, and I hope they call me to be involved. That would be great because I really love it. But I don’t know. I don’t know. I think it would be really cool though. Trust me, I would love to see a DC Mortal Kombat. That would be super, super cool.”

Warner Bros. owns rights to both of these franchises and has all the things at its disposal to make the wishes of its fans come true. Looking at the demand for a Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe-like project, it will be no surprise if the studio considers such a possibility in the future.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is the eighth installment of the Mortal Kombat franchise and the first game of its kind which saw characters from different universes clash. It takes after Raiden and Superman both repel attacks from their respective worlds. But the energy from the event causes the merger of Mortal Kombat’s villain Shao Kahn and DC Universe villain Darkseid.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was released on November 16, 2008. It is available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox One.
